Menschenfresser -> Interdiction Equipment (12/7/2019 1:49:20 PM)

Very new to TOAWIV. I've noticed that the combat report for interdiction strikes (sea interdiction, at least) I see my airfield unit's equipment. Is there any situation where this might come into play? Only situation I can think of is if you interdict something next to your airfield. Not sure if it appears in combat support missions or direct air strikes.

Just wondering.

Not sure exactly how you mean. For me, if I am doing the interdicting, I can't really see what is happening.

If I am being interdicted (at least at sea) then I can see where the interdict is originating, so then I have a chance to air strike or otherwise mitigate the interdict.

When my opponent is interdicting me (either on land or sea) then I strive to move "throwaway" units to "lure" his interdiction into my air superiority (thus shooting down or disorganizing his interdicts).

At sea, I load a carrier w/ AS or move a heavy air defense sea unit around aimlessly until the interdict stops. Then I know I can fairly safely move seaborne units.

On land, if I get interdicts when trying to move land units, then I similarly load a "throwaway" unit onto rail (if I can) and just move it around aimlessly near airfields loaded with my air superiority, to stop the interdicts.

I think Larry mentioned that moving your AA units around first also helps. But if you can, load them on rail ... then you get lots of moves to "lure" those interdicts into air combat.

I am sure others more knowledgeable than I can offer better insight, but so far, I have found that "luring" the interdicting units into heavy air combat around my airfields usually puts them down fairly quickly, and then I can go on moving unhindered. Opposing interdicts almost always strike when moving near or across your own airfields ... so load those airfields w/ air superiority, move rail around those to "lure" his units, and shoot them down.

That interdiction inter-combat routine needs work, I think. The inter-turn / inter-combat interdict I have not yet found a good way to stop that, if that is all I face.

Not exactly. I mean, when my air unit interdicts an opponent's and I look at the battle report, the equipment involved contains the AA unit sitting on the originating airfield. Or at least that seems to be the case.

I'll try to screenshot it next time I see it.

Yes, a screenshot will be helpful.

When you say, "When my air unit interdicts ...."

I have not seen a way to get a battle report for that (at least not for ground interdict, I see it for sea interdicts, but not ground ....)

How are you seeing that?

Menschenfresser -> RE: Interdiction Equipment (12/7/2019 8:41:13 PM)

Yeah, sea interdiction. I see it in the combat replay.

Hellen_slith -> RE: Interdiction Equipment (12/7/2019 9:28:55 PM)

Yes, I also see sea interdiction in battle report, but not land interdicts.

This (to me) is a problem ... why can we see sea interdicts reports, such as they are, but not land?

This (to me) is an area that might be improved for TOAW V, or TOAW IV.5,

but for now, I can only suggest that we take interdict with a grain of salt for now.

And try to mitigate, as explained how in my previous posts.

Or, if need be, make "house rule" in PBEM play that interdict is off limits.
Such a house rule can make much difference in quality of play,
esp. in certain scenarios.
