Beans_ssl -> Stupid Question (12/8/2019 12:04:07 AM)

Hi, I recently purchased this game during the sale and am trying to get it configured to play. So far I have been successful in turning the game into full screen as well as getting the game to run faster. However in game, I am just wondering if there is a way to zoom the map out? Also, does anyone know where I can find a list of shortcuts to use while in game? Thanks!

BillBrown -> RE: Stupid Question (12/8/2019 12:14:43 AM)

No, you can not zoom in or out. The emanual that shipped with the game has a list of hot keys in it on page 17 and 18.

Kull -> RE: Stupid Question (12/8/2019 3:15:07 AM)

Or you can make them available in-game, at the click of a button.

BillBrown -> RE: Stupid Question (12/8/2019 3:17:10 AM)

Thanks Kull, I did not have that one bookmarked.

I wish I had known before I paid for this game that it was not ready for Windows10. Is it possible to get a refund from Matrix?

Did you know that the game was 10 years old when you bought it?!?.
Anyway I have win10 and with the use of switches(which there are all kinds of posts on)you could make it work. Look for "SeaBee". It is a utility to help get the switches set up....GP

It was perfectly compatible with Windows 10, until Microsoft made an update that caused the bleed-through problem. However, that can be solved by using Windowed mode (and yes you can have a window that is almost the full screen). Recent testing suggests even that may no longer be the case.

So, no you can't blame Matrix for stuff Microsoft does, especially when the fix is described in excruciating detail in multiple threads.

Very confusing for an elderly non-IT person. I wouldn't have the first idea where to go to find these things that have to changed to make the game run. For instance what is a switch? Where are these files?

I did try to download the See-Bee thing but where it went I have no idea.

I'm probably just out the money, right?

This was supposed to be my xmas present, ho ho ho.

Oh well, merry Christmas to the board :)

You quit too soon you lose your small investment in a mighty game.
Just read the threads about game installation and display problems here in the Tech forum. At first it will seem unintelligible but there are screenshots with annotations that explain how to do thing and discussions that describe what the little lines of text called "switches" do. I had some trepidation about using them at first but you can't break anything trying them out - you can always erase the switch and try another one.

harkusa -> RE: Stupid Question (12/16/2019 7:55:04 PM)

I'm not giving up just yet. I'm tryhing to put the same text I see others here using in the target box but so far nothing works because the I end up with an invalid name like this:

"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\autorun.exe"-altFont -skipVideo -archive -deepColor -dd_sw -px1600 -py900

Anachro -> RE: Stupid Question (12/16/2019 9:09:02 PM)

To make it work on Win10, make use of the Seabee utility: LINK HERE

kbfchicago -> RE: Stupid Question (12/16/2019 9:46:27 PM)

I use: "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -SingleCpuOrders -cpu2 -dd_sw -wd -px 2880 -py 1800 -altfont -archive -deepcolor -fixedArt -noFire

Note you do not have and need a space between the end quote " and the first "-" switch: \autorun.exe"-altFont, should be ...\autorun.exe" -altFont... I think the px and py switch runs with or without space, I've used a space there as well and it runs fine. After adding the space what you have should be fine. You may see some performance issues (lag in mouse, etc.), if so add the singlecpuorders and cpu2 (some use cpu3, depending what type of cpu you have, if you system is more than a few years old, go with cpu2).

This is a great game...been on it since it was released as AE. Hope we can help you out here...

You are adjusting the game menu properties...

It's the game exe shortcut you want to adjust, also the px and py should probably match what your monitor can support.
You can fine tune it later, after you get up and running.

harkusa -> RE: Stupid Question (12/17/2019 3:01:43 AM)

It's invalid because you are missing a 'space' in front of the very first switch.

Also, why use the autorun exe?

Anachro -> RE: Stupid Question (12/17/2019 11:51:01 AM)

Your shortcut shouldnt be using the autorun.exe, it should be pointing to the War in the Pacific Admiral Edition exe. To create a new shortcut, simply right click on this exe and select Create Shortcut.
