Back to Luck... While living in Atlanta about 20 years ago, where the beltway doubles as a NASCAR track each weekday morning and evening (relevant point, I'm getting there...), noticed a co-worker broken down by the side of the road while on the way home. Early days of cell phones when not every 4th grader had one so looped around at the next exit, pull up behind him to see if I could help. Our two cars are well off the freeway mostly parked into the grass, he and I are standing on the grass side of the cars - not the freeway side, chatting about the value of carrying a cross tip screwdriver or some other repair nonsense...when I gal just randomly runs off the highway behind us, at full speed, goes around both the cars, in the grass, so close to us would could have touched her car... never hit the brakes, never slowed down, swerved back on the road and continued on her way. It was over in a second or two. She had to be going well over 60 mph. We just stood there dumfounded looking at each other slowly realizing what just happened... If you've ever seen Monty Pyton's movie The Life of Brian, that was my "...you lucky bastard..." moment.
