chops -> [Logged] Update Error (12/12/2019 1:50:05 PM)

When trying to update using the game interface, I constantly get this error message:

Downloading Update Information from Server #1
Creating Handle.........

Error Update information for Command Modern Operations could not be downloaded. Please contact Matrix Games for help

TheOttoman -> RE: Update Error (12/13/2019 4:07:30 AM)

I'm also getting this error message

Hi guys, we are sorry to hear you are having problems. Are you using the updater tool from the launcher or trying to download the patch files from the website?

ultradave -> RE: Update Error (12/13/2019 10:43:54 AM)

I think they are talking about the launcher. It seldom works for me. Not just with CMO or C:MANO, but any Matrix product. Once in a while it does, randomly, with no changes in my system.

I've gotten in the habit just to download from the links you provide in the forum.

Usually this issue is caused by the interference of a Internet security program (a firewall, an anti-virus, an anti-malware, etc.) with the game update feature. Please check if any of your Internet security programs is interfering with the download from our ftp servers.
Alternatively, you can manually download and install the updates from your account'0s download area:

I have had this issue forever it seems. I have given up using the updater and just check it now and then. There have been several threads on this scattered across multiple games for years.

Have always used Windows Defender in Win10 and have gotten no notifications on the Matrix updater.

zakblood -> RE: Update Error (12/13/2019 1:14:35 PM)

if you install and run as admin, it works every time on the default AV and firewall on windows 10, as long as you use a admin account to login with...

I am using Windows 10 (latest patch) and Windows Defender. The updater still does not work. Hopefully you can update your software so that we can update the game using the Launcher.

thewood1 -> RE: Update Error (12/20/2019 9:00:19 PM)

Same here. Win10, defender, admin, run as admin.

VPaulus -> RE: Update Error (12/22/2019 1:37:24 PM)

There are basically two reasons why the updater doesn't work:

1. Interference of an Internet security program.

2. ISP traffic shaping for downloads via ftp servers.

Regarding Windows Defender one of the problems might be the SmartScreen filter:

thewood1 -> RE: Update Error (12/22/2019 3:26:50 PM)

So can I ask why no other program or game I run has this issue? It has only been the Matrix update program.

zakblood -> RE: Update Error (12/22/2019 5:40:32 PM)

if you install and run as admin it works fine on the default programs installed on windows 10, as that's what it's tested on, but anything else in the mix, and anything could be causing it, sometimes addon programs from motherboard tools can stop and interfere with it, but without logs and reports it's much harder to do anything other than guess.

even some basic windows tools like any of the gaming ones built into windows 10, imo are better to be disabled if not used, and then cause less issue

thewood1 -> RE: Update Error (12/22/2019 8:26:14 PM)

I'll ask again, what is the updater doing that is different than Steam, BFC's DRM, etc.? Don't have that issue anywhere else.

It took a couple of tries but I "finally" got the TrueUpdater.exe to update itself (which was being blocked by Windows defender). Now at least it tells me there is a newer update available. But the updater is STILL timing out as it tries to download the actual CMO update.

And yes it was installed and is being run as admin.

And this is the last message I get after the updater fails. It looks like its getting somewhere to 15% of the update downloaded before it stops.

guanotwozero -> RE: Update Error (1/17/2020 10:25:42 AM)

That "Launcher.exee" looks like a typo in a file manifest, e.g. a list of files to be replaced.

JosephStephenson -> RE: Update Error (1/17/2020 11:47:47 AM)

Hi Sorry to hear you are having problems with our updater. The error message you are seeing, kgambit, was due to a spelling mistake in the code to re-open the Launcher when you cancel the updater. This has now been corrected. It however doesn't resolve the download issues you experiencing that are leading you to the error screen in the first place. We can only suggest you download the update manually from the members area or store page.

kgambit -> RE: Update Error (1/17/2020 12:47:35 PM)

Thanks Joseph.
