DataKing -> Interested in battle write-ups? (6/28/2001 2:03:00 AM)

Greetings and salutations, I am new to Steel Panthers, but I must say that after only a couple of weeks I am thoroughly addicted (which is why I find myself pouring over this forum when I should be working). :D I am also a writer, and I was wondering if you all would be interested in reading write-ups and the like of my fictional German Unit...5th Panzergrenadier Division, Regiment B. I would probably do it in the format of the memoirs of the commanding officer, Colonel Joseph Steiner. Let me know if you'd be interested in reading stuff like that. I'll probably write it anyway, because that's the way I am :cool: , and I will be more than willing to post it if there is interest.

We call them "After Action Reports (AARs)" DataKing and there's always a need for good ones so have at it and post them. You'll get plenty of readers.

I write myself, DataKing. You might want to check my Peleliu article currently at the Military Gamer site under articles on the front page. http://www.militarygameronline.com/ I'll also have a historical (non-fiction) article in the upcoming Military Gamer magazine, entitled "The Big Push." So I know that "urge." A writer HAS to write. He can't hold it back. By all means write it up and let us check it out. I think it would prove fascinating...Wild Bill

Thanks for the encouragement Wild Bill. I'll be sure to post the first installment soon. Regarding Pelileu...have you read a book called "With the Old Breed"? The name of the author escapes me, but he was one of the marines that fought on Pelileu. He really gives a realistic impression of what life was like for a marine in the Pacific during WWII. At least I imagine it is realistic, as I have no personal combat experience to compare it to. Just wondering. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it to you and anyone else interested in first-person accounts of such things.

Oops. I should have looked at the whole article before I posted. I just saw "With the Old Breed" in your list of references. Oh well...still a good book. :D
