d0mbo -> Back after a few years... (12/20/2019 6:26:45 PM)

.... after having two long term PBEM games ending after opponents went AWOL and my forces running amock in Australia.

I'll gladly try to get back into WITP with a guadalcanal PBEM for starters. Maybe a grand campaign game later on, but still on the fence because of the huge time-investment involved (especially turn one japanese).

As always, I prefer to play Japanese in my PBEM games.

I feel some things have changed since I left the game (4 or 5 years ago), so curious to see if my Japanese are still the unbeatable force they were before.

I do not think house rules are necessery for japanese (thinkI remember a ban on stratosweeps and B-17 bombing, but gladly take the advice in this regard, from my no doubt better informed opponent to be :) ).

My timezone is CET. Will be able to do a turn a day and with the holidays coming up, probably more the first two weeks !

If its been a few years you might want to insure the version you have matches that of your opponent.

My version is an unofficial BETA 1.8.11.26b which includes the comprehensive official patch #7 (I think - instructions for all of them can be found on the technical forum for AE.

I'd be willing to take you on in a campaign game but don't find the scenarios to be that interesting.
I pretty much don't want much in the way of House Rules either except for the 1st turn.

If you're "too worried" that the Japanese will run amok you may want to try the Big B Mod which revises the Chinese OOB and the USN dud torpedo rate considerably. I have about one month of playing experience in this mod in PBEM and it seems that the Japanese Player will find a stalemate rather than the path to victory there.

Looks like i finally found the right switches to have the game run smooth...ish. Thanks spence..... seems the deepColor also helped :)

However, getting back into a grand campaign is too soon for mee.
Have to read up and get back into all the WITP quircks first.
Convoys, R&D, industry, supply...... too daunting for now.

And it looks like the japanese have lost their uber nightfighting edge in surface combat?

So.... Anyone interested in a Guadalcanal game?

I'm here!

Send me a PM to arrange the game

Few more things.

I am looking for a scenario match, possibly playing many turns per week. Ideally, at least 1 turn per day.

Scenarios are less forgiving than the grand campaign but managing your stuff is much quicker.
CET is just perfect for me, I should be CET -01h00.

I have never played a scenario but I'm curious. Available as Japanese or allied depending on what you are looking for.

I have very few HRs I'd like to have, though.

EDIT: my only conditio sine qua non is to use Dropbox to share files: using mails drives me insane.
