d0mbo -> Displaying search arcs and range circles.... (12/21/2019 3:34:31 PM)

those make the game unplayable for me now. And i use them. A lot.

The switches i use to get the game running to an acceptable extend: -f -cpu2 -multiaudio -dd_sw -deepcolor -altFont

When i display search arcs. the game almost freezes or at the very least becomes very sluggish.

Is there anything i can do to improve that?

Help very much appreciated :)

Yes, it should not be like that. Someone will come along who knows what your problem is. In the meantime I suggest windows mode would be less problemsome. Here's my switches just for reference.

"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -fd -altFont -px1920 -py1080 -archive -cpu1 -dd_sw -deepColor -skipVideo -w

I think the C in deepColor must be capitalized.

I think you need the -archive for Tracker to work, and it gives some really nice search density displays. I've heard -cpu2 or -cpu3 solves some problems but I have none with -cpu1 except a little jerkiness in playback.

Range circles (code?) and search arcs (z) really slow down scrolling if they are left on all the time. Turn them on and off as required using their hot keys.
Same for other overlays like the hexside details (F6) or hex ownership (w) and patrol zones (6). Use them to make your decisions and then turn them off.

Hiya, the game runs better now.

Seems the deepColor (case senisitive and using cpu2 helped). I can now scroll with search arcs visible! Yay!

Thanks for your replies, fellas!

I think I am ready for a first PBEM in like 4 or 5 years now :)

Hey, I think I just learned something. Have to try it out later.
