Tiles load slowly after zooming out. The areas on the map where tiles should be displayed are black. It takes 3 seconds, sometimes up to 7 seconds! for the tiles to be displayed.
It makes browsing the map unpleasant, not smooth. [:(]

Here is a video (31 Mb) showing this behaviour:

My \Steam\Steamapps\common\Command - Modern Operations\WW\Cache\S2Cloudless\ folder is 3.22 Gb (87,292 Files), I am almost sure the cache folder already has these tiles.
With my fiber internet connection, my 3.6 Ghz quad core cpu and my nvidia gtx 1070 6 Gb graphics card, I would have expected the game to load map images faster.

Hi,

Which version are you using?

Also, it is _very_ strange that there are no other layers behind the S2-cloudless layer. Have you disabled all other map layers?

1121.3 (Steam)

But I think that I have discovered why I didn't have the other layers behind the Sentinel-2 Cloudless one.

It seems that CMO keeps in memory which layers are enabled or disabled after (un)cheking the the layers in the VIEW menu.

If you play a tutorial, disable some layers (in the View menu), close CMO, then restart CMO and load the same tutorial, you should notice that only the layers that you have previously kept enabled ... are displayed.
This setting is persistent between CMO sessions.

So you are using the "persistent map profile" feature, then?

Use personal map profile is checked. I guess I enabled this option without really knowing exactly what it does.

Aren't surrounding tiles loaded into memory when the player is focussed on an area ?

Adding adjacent tiles (not shown yet on screen) and tiles from a more detailed & less detailed layer into memory would speed up map loading.

It seems that the game loads all tiles from the cache folder (or, if they haven't been downloaded yet, downloads them from the remote server, then displays them).

How does the game manage tiles ?
How does it display them ?

I'm having the issue your video shows at 1:05 When I zoom into beyond about 1500 meters, the tiles go black. They don't show up at all. I have to play this game of zooming out and in dozens of times before I get a blurry image. Did you find a solution to this yet?

xan2622 -> RE: Tiles load slowly (black placeholders) (12/23/2019 10:11:52 PM)

The workaround (that Dimitris suggested to me here) is to enable other layers (other maps). This way, when the Sentinel-2 tiles take time to load, you still can see the earth ground texture thanks to the other layers.

If you tick the "Use personal map profile" option (in the Game menu > Game Options > Map Display tab) and click on the button nearby, this will make all your missions keep your current Map/Layers settings.

Is this still an issue in the current public version? (B1142.2)
