Kull -> RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 7:16:31 PM)

Didn't want to make (much less read) this thread, but Ron was a big part of the old WitP community and he deserves commemoration. Passed away on March 3, 2017 at age 51. Too young...wayyyyy too young. Wherever you are Ron, hopefully it has a good view of well endowed beach bunnies playing volleyball on Zakynthos!

Edit: Added link to obit

Nomad -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 7:30:49 PM)

Wow, did not know that my friend Ron passed away.

rustysi -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 7:35:58 PM)

Sad to hear.[sm=sad-1361.gif]

btd64 -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 7:49:10 PM)

RIP....GP

witpqs -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 7:55:36 PM)

Kull,

I'm confused by this. I had been lead to understand that Ron Saueracker was his forum name, that his real first name was Dirk.

Was I under a misunderstanding?

RogerJNeilson -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 7:59:10 PM)

Seriously young to leave.....

RIP

Roger

Well, his Forum avatar info said he was from Ottawa and we know he lived in Greece for a while, and both are noted in the obit. I'd like to be wrong, but I doubt it.

Sad news. Fair wind and following seas old friend...and don't run aground.

PaxMondo -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 9:44:10 PM)

fair winds friend ...

Canoerebel -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 9:48:00 PM)

Wasn't it DivePac whose name was Dirk? (If not, I apologize for sidetracking things.)

I didn't know Ron at all except for his name and avatar, but I'm sorry to hear he passed so young.

Kull, how did you find out? It's very nice of you to give us this sad news. And it's nice of the community to remember him.

Not sure, but I am remembering someone referring specifically to Ron.

PaxMondo -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 10:18:11 PM)

You're thinking of Des ….

Desmond Wallace

Halsey -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 10:23:13 PM)

Ron was a stalwart player, and contributor, of the original WIP game.
I remember him well.
Ron and Mogami were always at loggerheads over some miniscule detail.[:D]

Party hardy Ron!

Nomad -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 10:25:06 PM)

From his forum profile page. I think the Dirk Steele referred to a character in a series of books.

Halsey -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 10:26:12 PM)

Dive Pac, and Cobra Aus, well remembered and missed as contributors to a game that still persists today.[;)]

PaxMondo -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/22/2019 10:28:14 PM)

Don't know if our "Ron" is the original, or an admirer of Ron. He certainly was popular and missed in Greece. Read the obit, but then read on down … people came just for him.

Kull, how did you find out?

I spend half my life lately doing internet searches for Japanese merchant ships, and today I was a bit bored and tried to see if Ron's old signature pic might somehow exist in the depths of the internet. Sadly, that soon turned up some ominous indications, but nothing firm until I found the linked obit. Ugh.

At least the signature pic is still with us.

I remember those times as we transferred from the Guadalcanal game over to War In the Pacific and remember the battles between those two.

Sounded long me a good guy, sorry to hear about this.

CaptBeefheart -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/23/2019 12:48:59 AM)

Very sorry to hear this. I always thought his signature pic was the best (except maybe LST's).

Rest In Peace,
CB

LOL, that pic WAS Ron, bigger than life in every way! Thanks so much for bringing it back.

Big B -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/23/2019 1:26:39 AM)

Wow!
I read the link, and saw it was two years ago, but I'm shocked and saddened nonetheless.

So sorry to read this, Ron was a good guy, and I'll miss him.

Big B -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/23/2019 1:27:58 AM)

+1, that's how I'll always remember him [:(]

Yes, like PaxMondo noted: that was Des.

Sorry to hear about Ron. He seemed to have been a real personality. [:(]

fcooke -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/23/2019 9:52:56 AM)

Ron was one of the best guys I played in PBEM. Fun and did not things seriously. We agreed to a rematch but then he moved to Greece to open a bar. And then we got his avatar. [&o]

As others have said - fair winds.

HansBolter -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/23/2019 11:49:21 AM)

Very sorry to hear about Ron.

51 was the same age my younger brother was taken at.

Far, far too young.

mikkey -> RE: RIP Ron Saueracker (12/23/2019 6:56:29 PM)

RIP Ron
