Just curious..... does anyone get 81+ xp (tracom grade) transport Pilots as Japan.? That is , the pilot improve over time ferrying stuff until he becomes that good, haha

TP like some other pilots increase EXP VERY slowly. And TP pilots specifically are lost fairly routinely as IJ because you will be using them frequently in live fire zones where TP's are sitting ducks. So, maybe I've had a handful get into the 80's briefly before they went KIA/MIA ...

Sure did. They doubled up as search guys on the Emilys. Japan has some high xp patrol pilots from the start

If any transport pilots get to 60-80 take them out of transports and get them into another field of work! For IJ transports are very vulnerable and you'd be best using pilots with quality transport skill (70) but I routinely have pilots from 40-55exp flying these planes. I often do live training later in game, drawing rookies directly into these units and putting them on 10% train + 10% rest sas they go about their missions.

I produce many TRs and I pay surprisingly good attention to their training. I tend to produce Thalia only for IJA and the nice Mavis/Emily TR for the few IJN groups. Transport pilot can be trained quite easily but losses are generally high if you employ them on frontlines. Also losses in a/c are very very high. I generally put them on 100% train when they don't do missions and then pull out of the group few pilots very now and then. Ideally, I have 70% of the pilots who are experienced guys and 30% composed of rookies taken from replacements. In desperate times I started putting LB pilots in TR groups. They have decent exp and def, reducing losses. As the game progressed, I don't need so many LB pilots. For LB pilots: I take them directly from replacements and I do bomb the s@it out of Chinese. I have many many many good pilots even though my losses are huge. A/c are important as well. I tend to use the Thalia only because it's readily available, it has a very good range and uses Ha-35, which is not in high demand as the games goes on. Doctrine is the most relevant element. In many games I had little to no use for TRs, while in others I am pressed to employ them everywhere. In the first case, pilots tend to accrue high exp. In the second they just die before they reach good levels.

If the tpt pilots has only tpt skills, is it worth it to redeploy him in other duties? Say 70ish XP, but 40ish skills. I was under the impression that Tpt skills are not that important. Sure I will train a pilot in Tpt skills if he is designated to fly a Thalia/Emily-L, but I am equally open to converting those 50ish XP/50ish skills pilots that Japan start with. And these..... Just because a pilot gets assigned to transports right out of flight school, that does not mean it is the best fit for his skills. Try putting the squadron on "General training" for a week or two. This will help raise overall experience level but it will also show by the skills accrued if there is a pilot in the squadron who is really good at something other than transport. Note that you need to spend time on General Training at 1000 feet and 2000 feet or more to cover the various types of skills. Only Strafe training will be left out of this training experiment, but that is specific to fighters and assault bombers anyway so it can be checked out in those squadrons.

On the flip side, if you have a top gun fighter pilot who won’t stop buzzing the tower on Akagi you can assign them to a Theresa Chutai flying rubber dog poo out of Manchukuo.

Not a fan of general training tbh. I prefer to focus my training. Current plans are that the transport cadres comes from other plane type: E.g. I create a fighter pilot from pool, if the air/def skill that is generated is really Low,, I offlload that digital pilot to tpt squadrons
