Playing Ironman as allies Mid January '42. British have sent some nice units to Aden that appear to be unrestricted. I don't see any transit times or other restrictions. I sent a large AP convoy up there to load and bring them back to India. All are set to strategic move. The AP TF is set to transport and has ample space but I do not get the option to load them. Anything I can do to load these guys? Thanks.

Aden, or Cape Town?

In mid-January Allies get their first reinforcement 'convoy' LCU in CT.

IIRC, you can disband the unit. Else it will disband itself after a few weeks. Either way, the devices go into your pools to flesh out and upgrade the Commonwealth nations' LCUs.

All the possible types of Task Forces available in the game are detailed in s.6.1.1.1 of the manual. You will not find an "AP TF" listed in the manual. If you really want to learn how to play this game you are going to have to become precise.

As you have placed those units into "strategic move" mode, they need a Transport TF to be picked up.

Transport convoys have to be docked to load. If you are trying to load all the units at once you probably have too much tonnage to dock. Simply break up the convoy to load units a few at a time. Set them to Do Not Unload while you are loading other convoys and when all are loaded, undock the convoys and combine them into one if you wish. You need to protect such a valuable convoy from subs and surface raiders. If Aden does not have enough naval vessels available, have them waiting at the point that the convoy will arrive on-map.

btd64 -> RE: Stranded in Aden (12/30/2019 6:42:57 PM)

An undocked Transport TF will load LCU's without being docked. I've done this myself. Loading the LCU's into seperate TF's isn't a bad idea however, for different or the same locations....GP

Doesn't that require some naval support present? At least for the equipment?

btd64 -> RE: Stranded in Aden (12/30/2019 11:59:49 PM)

The problem is that your using the wrong map data. That's why Aden and Abadan bases are out of place with the boxes. In other words your using the stock map data and the extended map....GP

basilstaghare -> RE: Stranded in Aden (12/31/2019 1:33:02 AM)

Thanks. Im sure I installed the extended map with the RA mod when I bought this game over a year ago. I decided to play the ironman scenario which may have been a mistake. Is there a way to fix this? I think I backed up the game files and could probably undo the mod. But can I salvage my save game?

Never mind. Just going to reinstall. Figure I need to learn the basic game before I fool with any mods. Hopefully I can copy my save game over, if not I will just restart.

Ian R -> RE: Stranded in Aden (12/31/2019 2:22:10 AM)

It is best to have completely separate installs with the different map types so you don't get into this problem.

First, make a completely new install that uses the standard map.

Secondly, the locations of bases (xx/yy co-ords) are part of the scenario data; therefore:

(1) copy all the save files for your current game across to your standard map install.

(2) make sure the scenario file you are using is the same as the one in your scen folder in your new install (copy and paste if necessary)

(3) fire her up and see what happens.

Don't know if that'll work but logic suggests it should.

basilstaghare -> RE: Stranded in Aden (12/31/2019 2:29:33 AM)

Thanks. yes, I copied over the save file and all seems to work fine. Aden is where it should be and the transports will now load.
