Stuck on spinning globe.[&:]

8gb ram, quad core Pentium 4415y. Exceptions log attached. Fresh Windows install, no AV.

depends on model spec, as the standard version is below par, the best version is below the min spec for the game.

Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y. The Intel Pentium 4415Y is a low power entry level processor for small laptops or tablets and based on the Kaby Lake architecture. It was announced in Q2 2017 and offers two processor cores clocked at 1.6 GHz (no Turbo Boost)

The Intel HD Graphics 615 (GT2) is a low-end integrated graphics unit, which can be found in the Y-series of the Kaby Lake generation. Means some low demanding games should therefore be playable with the chip, but that's about it.

so basically the slowest CPU out of the newest ones on the market for the last 2 years, with the slowest of almost any VGA chips bolted on, with no memory attached so used base memory, so as the user only has 8gb, which windows requires 4 but will use more, the CPU is doing the work of the GPU as well, and as it's already the slowest CPU without it doing the GPU work, if it did even work, the game would be next to unplayable.

let's look at the min spec,

Minimum dual-core, recommended quad-core, the Go uses a Pentium Gold 4415Y is a 64-bit dual-core budget x86 mobile microprocessor which is sorry to say dog slow

Video/Graphics: DirectX 9.0c compatible video card with 128MB+ VRAM, Go uses low-end integrated graphics unit, with no Vram of it's own whatsoever.

The GO was never meant to be for games, unless you like browser ones, and even then, some won't play as not enough power for some out there :(

what to look for in the Go range,

Intel® UHD Graphics (i3) Intel® Iris™ Plus Graphics (i5, i7) both are faster onboard GPU bolted on to yes more expensive CPU's, you get what you pay for with a CPU when a GPU is bolted onto it, a dual core CPU with a slow GPU bolted on won't play hardly any games, where as the i3 will be more cost, but play more, the i5 will play most and the i7 i'd hazard a guess and will play almost any war game out there on the market atm

This isn't about performance though. CMO works (Slowly) on my ancient dell laptop which has much worse spec. It just flat out crashes on the Surface, which surpasses min spec. DXDIAG attached. (SGo has 128mb vram according to dxdiag)

thanks for the report,

so if you update the drivers for the the intel chipset and audio, it may work, but look at the dedicated ram,. 128mb

shared is system ram, which the system needs just as much as the CPU is working hard enough, let alone doing the GPU job as well

update one at a time and then reboot before you do the other and see if it's any better with the latest drivers, you have nothing to lose tbh, if they cause any issue do a roll back, normally not a issue, but there if needed etc, good luck

zakblood -> RE: [Logged] CMO Doesn't work on Surface Go. (12/31/2019 1:35:51 PM)

steam or stand alone version btw?

coolts -> RE: [Logged] CMO Doesn't work on Surface Go. (12/31/2019 4:04:59 PM)

Steam. Tried both versions on release. Ran as admin, etc. Same issue. Drivers latest on windows update.
Iirc there was a DPI scaling issue a while back. Mines set at 150% by default.

Can you try the public beta? : https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4732689

Will do. In the meantime, some DPI fiddling paid off.

Will test further but might be an issue on default windows settings for high resolution small screens.
