I had the same problem. Latest version of Windows 10 and after latest patch no-go. But after following all the instructions here all is now well.

OK Guys Thank you.

Just re-loaded on an new Win-10 machine upgraded to 2.02 and no go. This thread sorted me out.

I installed JTCS and V2.02 to my brand new Windows 10 laptop today... and I'm getting that "Side-by-Side Comparison" error.

To be (embarrassingly) honest, I don't know where to find the "Application Event Log"... (Went from a 6 year old machine running Windows 7 to a new one with Win10.)

And I need to download/install something called "MS VS C++ files"? (I have a x64-based processor.) I have no reason to be paranoid about that?

Thanks! (Did not see that post, as that thread was about the 2.02 update...)

With me, the game's initial (gneral) menu screen comes up, but when I click on an option, nothing happens. When I attempt to launch the game from one of the main EXE files (East Front.exe, West Front.exe, etc.) is when the "Side-By-Side Compatibility" error message comes up.

So if I follow the steps you've been kind enough to point me to, that should get me up & running with Windows 10?

I'll give it a shot!

I just had a similar problem and would like to post a new link for the correct installer to fix the problem with John TIller CmapaignSeries on WIndows 10 when nothing happens when you click on the menu.

New link to Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Residtribution x86

Even on a 64 bit PC you need to install the 32bit ( 86) one

The 32 bit C++ package fixed this same issue on my new Windows10 machine...strangely it is not an issue on two older Win10 machines that I have.
