fuselex -> what i hate ( light hearted ) (1/10/2020 3:01:38 PM)

do you know what i hate

i drink spirits mixed with the mighty fine beverage of cola.
giving me a two hundred dollar bottle of fine whiskey is like feeding a pig strawberries , i will finish that in record time .
and will look for more.
but i have a little tool to measure my intake , a nip measurer , most have this tool
i pour 2 nips of booze then add 200 ml of cola .

but occassionally , early or later in the morning i seem to get confused on the ratio`s

2 nips of cola with 200 ml of spirit ?

I hate that :)

do you know what i hate ,

the missus playing with the snooze button.

sets the alarm an hour before she is going to get up , then hits the snooze button every 9 minutes or so.

damn i hate that :)

Fuselex, happy to see you safe.[:)]
Big fire in Australia.[:(]

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (1/10/2020 4:30:20 PM)

hey rico , lots of smoke where I am . 100 kms away but it takes your breath away , many oldies are getting admitted to hospital for breathing problems.
even out of the danger zone there are major effects ,the news reports the major cities , as hazardous as they are , in our little town we are recording 4 times the amount of pollution as any major city .
at a guess , if we had 2 or 3 days in a week without suffocating smoke , that is good , rainfall is improving , but January is our best month .
we are getting about a quarter of our annual rainfall now ,

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (1/10/2020 4:46:55 PM)

try not to take away from the light heartiness , but in my little town , cool climate , we averaged up until 2018 , 15 days equalling 30 degrees or above .
a couple of weeks of what we consider hot :) 2019 brought 70 days of 30 + compounded with a big drop in rainfall

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (1/10/2020 4:51:30 PM)

do you know what I hate ?

people who water their lawns through summer in the middle of the day .

I only need one thunderstorm to catch up with you .

I hate that :)

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (1/10/2020 4:52:34 PM)

both of us will be mowing at the same time :)

Big Ivan -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (1/12/2020 12:57:42 AM)

God Bless David to you and your family!

Australia is going through some tough times now. From what I see here on the news in the States it looks to be pretty goddamn bad over there right now. When I saw the fire map I was shocked. I even saw where a news caster said one fire covers more area than the island of Manhattan in New York City. That is huge!

I pray the Lord Almighty and Mother Nature bring all of Australia much much needed rain and fast.

You and your family are in my prayers David.

Best always!!!!!!
John

thanks big ivan
save here .
news varies depending on what channel you watch .

but one report a week ago

A record-breaking area of land has been burned in New South Wales this bushfire season, according to the latest figures released by the Rural Fire Service.

A total of 4.9m hectares – an area larger than Denmark – has been destroyed in the state during the nationwide fire crisis.

The total area burned across NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania has now reached 8.4m hectares – an area larger than Scotland

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (1/13/2020 10:52:24 AM)

last I have seen was it was approaching 10 million hectares

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (1/13/2020 12:13:04 PM)

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (1/18/2020 2:09:38 PM)

January is looking pretty good at the moment where I am ,
smoke is nearly a memory ,
we have had 140 mm of rain so far :)
last year to this day was .2 mm
300mm for the year 2019, which was about 500 mm less than the average , not anything outstanding but we are in a climate where rainfall is expected , over the last 20 years it is changing .
we have now had in 19 days , nearly half of what we received last year .
the drought and fires have not stopped , but things are looking better where I am

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/6/2020 12:08:36 PM)

I have never classified myself as an environmentalist as such ,
no objection to mining and lumbering through out my life of 52 years ,
it gives life to communities , finances , jobs and an income to support said families .

but at what cost ?
i imagine no matter where you are from , there is a change happening ,

serious bushfires happen ever summer here , but the temps are rising and the droughts are more common ,

hence videos like this are becoming the norm

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK36n8Ut2bE

and they are not extremist views anymore , they are views of people who have been around for a while

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/6/2020 12:28:56 PM)

And I`m 52 , so I know nothing will be done :)
we will debate , hold conferences , many important people will attend , maybe an international consortium of important people will arrive ? .
so we need to hold this debate for at least 2 weeks ,
and they will walk away patting each others back while slipping a few coins in the others pocket

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/6/2020 2:15:33 PM)

:)

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/6/2020 2:24:32 PM)

didn't take me long to get out of the light hearted mood , guess the missus kept hitting the snooze button :(

rico21 -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/6/2020 2:49:37 PM)

The other day I meet an old friend who asks me what is happening to me.
I answer him that I am a happy man because my country does everything that I ask him.
Ah well he answers, and what did you ask him?
Nothing.

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/13/2020 12:08:38 PM)

do you know what I hate ?

looking through the forums to find rico`s Stalingrad series .

I believe it is

blood and guts
bread factory
to the rescue
the last bid 2
turned away
the red house

I may have missed some , and have them in the wrong order .
but it is a great set of scenarios , that should be played one after the other .

well , maybe I don't really hate that ?

because it is well worth the effort .

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/13/2020 12:43:48 PM)

another thing I hate.
bloody old people .
we spend our lives ignoring their advice .
what would they know ?
they sit in a chair hoping their bladder doesn't give way while watching some serial on tv.
we ignore them , every generation repeats the same pattern of ignorance ,
but as middle age creeps in and youth takes a backstep , you start to not dismiss so easily ,
you may even find you are quoting what the old bloke holding his legs together has said .

I don't feel it is a saying just associated with Australia , I imagine many lands have a version .

but the oldies always say , if its not a drought , it`s a flood .

we have had some decent fires over here caused by drought , 2-3 months later many places are now battling floods .

maybe the old bloke is not that silly :)

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/13/2020 1:38:07 PM)

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/13/2020 2:00:32 PM)

I am just wondering if all aussie`s moved to the US , Europe or Asia ,
then held a march ,
should those wearing their national colours be removed in case it conflicted with our Australian values ?
pretty sure it wouldn't be tolerated by the US , and it shouldn't be .

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/13/2020 2:18:25 PM)

you will agitate them ?
who are them ? , and who cares ?
you are willing to accept Australia as your home , well wave our flag

fuselex -> RE: what i hate ( light hearted ) (2/13/2020 2:34:53 PM)

President John F Kennedy ordered an aide to buy him as many Cuban cigars as he could just hours before he authorised the U.S. trade embargo - which subsequently made them illegal.

Kennedy asked his head of press and fellow cigar smoker Pierre Salinger to obtain '1,000 Petit Upmanns' on February 6, 1962, so he could have them in his hands before they were deemed contraband.

Then, seconds after he was told the next morning that 1,200 of Cuba's finest export had been bought for him, he signed the decree to ban all of the communist state's products from the U.S.
