DaveMoore -> My LBA won't attack Japanese CVs (7/13/2003 5:09:33 PM)

I have been playing the Operation MO scenario and I have loaded out Port Moresby with aircraft ready to repel the inevitable Japanese attacks.
At the start of June 42, two Japanese task forces, one with 3 CVs and another with 2 BBs approached PM. The CV take force sat about 6 hexes away and attacked the ships in port and other ships nearby, whilst the BB task force snook in each night to bombard PM. I had loads of support and aviation support. The runway hits were fixed each day and the airfield was up to about size 8. There were in totalt about 150 aircraft there most of them set to naval strikes. The weather was clear and there were no clouds over the enemy task forces, yet none of my LBA attacked the Japanese task forces.
Does anyone have any ideas why they sat around all day?
Also, I couldn't manage to load any of the Australian divisions onto my transports. They were all from Northern Command. Is there a rule that does not allow the Northern Command units to leave Australia?
Thanks in advance.

Northern Command units cant leave Aus.

Were your planes escorted? Bombers will only attack TF guarded by CAP if they are escorted.

I agree, they were probably intimidated by the CAP level of the TF. You need to have enough escorts.

question was already answered, didn't see it...

Thanks guys. Didn't even consider that, I was being too greedy, putting all myfighter bombers on naval attack.
What a heartless commander I am!!
;)
