22sec -> What to Map? (1/17/2020 2:03:31 PM)

I have spent time trying different concepts and ideas since the preview transparency was added. It is a wonderful addition that can make for some great detailed maps, using very high resolution satellite images. I want to move forward with creating at least one new map. My question for everyone is, where? I am burned out on Germany and the Cold War. I wish we had a modern database, but there are thoughts on that. I thought about the Sulwaki Gap, but meh... Perhaps somewhere in Norway, but the key locations throughout Norway are mostly narrow valleys. Would it be that fun to game? Thought about northern Syria, lots of different equipment currently available in the AB database has fought there this past decade. I am open and needing suggestions from everyone, especially the team if y'all are so inclined.

Somewhere in Asia maybe? Parts of Vietnam that could work for either US v. Vietnam or Vietnam v. China?

Or hell, just pick somewhere with interesting terrain that hasn't really been done in war games yet and between mods and people's imaginations the hypothetical scenarios will come together in no time. Somewhere in Africa or South America maybe?

Basrah (southern Iraq)

How about something in Russia, maybe around Pskov or in France around Reims. i mostly just want interesting, varied terrain to fight on. A map with some city/towns, forests, plains, a couple rivers and elevation changes on part of the map. I play pretty armor heavy when i play, if i do infantry heavy its usually in cities or heavy forested, covered terrain.

I’ve narrowed it down to:
Ukraine - East of Kiev
Kosovo
Thermopylae,Greece
Western approach to Istanbul
Golan Heights

Greece or Istanbul gets my vote for the novelty factor alone.

+1 to Golan Heights. If you are interested, you are always welcomed to Koraen project.

But some part of Germany would be still interesting. We discussed this before, right?

Huh, you were working on Lamia. Map looks fantastic.

Then, are you considering LANDSOUTH vs Soviet Southern Group of Forces?

I've seen old Soviet topo maps for sale on the internet.

Work continues. The combination of high resolution satellite map, the editor's transparency feature, and ability to also display the terrain.bmp at the same time really allows for detailed editing.
