Can the Japanese draw supply along the orange line of hexes, none of which crosses an allied controlled hexside in green? The last unit to pass through the hex with the yellow star was Chinese. The other four have never contained a unit.

They have to occupy the hex to block supply.

The game engine doesn't keep track of who's been in a hex and when. Only bases remain yours until captured by the enemy. It keeps track of who owns the hexsides as long as that player has something on one side of that hexside.

But to expect that enough supplies will move across six hexes of rough, mountain and jungle terrain mostly without roads to sustain those practically surrounded units - well, that is a bit of a stretch.

No, only control of hex sides matter.

Thanks everyone, this actually cleared up a couple of misconceptions I've had.
