I'm half way through the hard cover edition, really interesting and written in way to appeal to all readers. Has some interesting sidebars such as the development of the UDT/SEAL concept. It doesn't go into the mega details that a book on a single battle would do, however if does give you a feel for just what it did take on both sides to fight in the Pacific campaign during the second half of the war. Good read.

I read it last year. Decidedly 'meh' IMO.

I just bought this one, his book on Guadalcanal and the Tin Can Sailors one on sale a few weeks ago as well

Both were better works than "Flood Tide" IMO.
