decourcy -> Replacements (7/15/2003 11:55:49 PM)

Hi all,

I have found a bug although i may have created it in the first place.

I am playing a campaign against the computer with me as the Japs. This campaign is based on #17 but i adjusted a number of ground unit arrival times and i uorated a number of allied pilot stats such as H. Bauer, Mangrum, D. Bannon etc.
I also made slight adjustments to the armament of a couple of ships, mostly just to see what the limits of the editor were. (in case you are curious you cannot add weapons to a ship; I added 2-25mm AA to each side of the Yubari, adding them at the bottom of the list, they never gained any ammo. So, then i moved them just above the torpedoes, at that point the AA had 2 rounds each and the torpedoes zero. sigh.)

I invaded PM around the 16th of May and failed to take it; so i kept bringing reinforcements until at the end of June i took the base. however, a number of my regiments that fought there are down to 80-90 squads and some artillery losses. So, I thought there would be replacement units showing up any day just like in previous campaigns. nothing.

I thought 'maybe I have to evacuate these guys closer to Truk' so i did. Nothing. I also noticed that garrisons and such at Buin, Lae etc that usually get replacements have also received none.

What is up? I am into October in the game. Any ideas?

Thank you for your help,

Michael A Johnson

Probably not the answer you want but Matrix does not support any edited scenarios since it is impossible to say which bugs were introduced, sorry

decourcy -> fine (7/16/2003 5:17:09 AM)

U2,

That is fine you do not support the editor; However, I was hoping you or someone else could say whether this is an established bug or not.

My point is do I continue to use my edited scenario or do i trash it; If this bug has occured with other people than it is not my scenario!

I was hoping for a more verbose reply from you than 'Edited scenarios are not supported'

Make believe that this scenario was NOT edited and give me your best guess.

Please.

Michael

U2 -> OK (7/16/2003 1:28:46 PM)

Well my first guess would then to have moved them closer to Truk but you did that already:) No, I can't say this has been reported during my time as a bug collector and it seems to me like something is wrong with the edited scen which makes you better off leaving it alone. That is if you want replacements which you did not have a problem with getting before in other scens for your combat worn land units.

decourcy -> Thanks (7/16/2003 11:34:21 PM)

U2,

Thanks for the reply. I have since talked to 1 other person who had this problem and they also had edited the scenario.
sigh.

I am really hoping the editor in WitP works a bit better. :)

Thanks for your time.

Michael

I, too, have had this problem with edited scenarios, but it comes and goes. In one scenario a few of my formations never received any replacements while others that I just created out of thin air did. Go figure!

decourcy -> editor (7/23/2003 12:07:23 AM)

Hi all,

Showboat, thanks for replying, I cannot figure out what we are doing to effect the replacement code. This database is rapped a little to tight!

I just created a test scenario to try and figure things out and it didn't help. The scenario i created put one regiment of Americal on Lunga at game start and put South Seas and Yazawa at Rabaul. I then run both sides and have the Japs invade Lunga and take it. I gave the allies some engineers and such, just enough that the Japs can't get better than 1-1 at first so both sides take heavy losses. Then I wait 30 days. I have run this 5 times so far and 2 of those 5 replacement did occur.

I have no idea why. The whole DB is buggy in the editor; If you plan on editing erase the 24th Sentai from the 1st slot and move it elsewhere otherwise the 24th will never enter the game!

I am thinking of creating a scenario where i do not change anything in 'locations' list and then run that a few times and see what happens.

Mike
