Can you name the two ships in the picture?

[image]local://upfiles/29130/1EFDDF476FDC4DAF8FDC4134445E3D54.jpg[/image]

Renown and Repulse maybe? Think the rear one is Repulse.

The first ship is the pride of the Gibraltar station, HMS Hood.

And I have no idea what ship it is in the distance. I was hoping for some assistance with naming her.

The pictures caption was; A close-up of Hood's aft 15-inch Mark I guns in 1926.

AllenK -> RE: News From the Front - 4 player game (3/29/2020 4:56:16 PM)

Ah, the Hood. I couldn't quite place that mast like structure in the top left as being Renown or Repulse but the picture looks like there is only room for one stern turret. Shows what camera angles can do!

The silhouette of the director tower looks like Repulse or Renown. I went for Repulse as on the picture it looks like there is additional armour on the side of the hull, which was the distinguishing feature compared to Renown.

AllenK -> RE: News From the Front - 4 player game (3/29/2020 4:56:38 PM)

Edit: Double post.

The extra training, and change in bombing doctrine, seem to have been successful.

Land Combat:
CW:
MIL (74,34) -> TERR in Tunis (4:1+1)
HMS Hood, and HMS Repulse, add 4 points in shore bombardment. (8:1+1)

Italy can support their TERR in Tunis with one NAV2. CW has 4 CVP of various strength available to intercept the Italian bomber. If the bomber is cleared the odds would be 4:1 +1. And if not then it would be 7:1 +1

Will Italy fly with their NAV2? (If so then CW will intercept with two 3-strength CVP. Will the bomber remain after first round regardless of result? Where will it land after combat?)

And if the final odds is 4:1 +1, what table will be used? Blitz or assault?

With 7:1 +1 it must be assault since blitz is automatic.

The attack goes well and the British liberate Tunis. And waste a perfectly good ten (a one had got the job done). [:D]

Meanwhile, in several briefing rooms the pilots are informed of todays mission...

Here is yet another picture of the main targets marked with red. And the primary final approach for the torpedo bombers. This is a night raid but RAF has provided a squadron of Blenheim bombers from Malta that will begin the raid with dropping flairs, and bomb air defences.

Port Strike:
CW:
Three CVP1 are launched, and one LND3, and bomb the Italian fleet in La Spezia.

Germany can intercept the incoming raid with one 3 strength FTR3. (Note that the FTR3 has a orange combat factor so it will fight worse if CW has a CVP as a front fighter)

HMS Glorious has one 3 strength Gladiator ready for air support (counter-interception).

A pity no Falcos are available for a Battle of the Biplanes

Orm -> RE: News From the Front - 4 player game (4/4/2020 5:01:17 PM)

With all that AA fire from all the light cruisers Italy might not need the Falcos for fleet protection...

Italy rolls 6, while CW rolls a 10. 4 surprise points to Italy.

How will Italy proceed?
