deepdive -> [Logged] 361 degree scale map? (2/16/2020 12:48:11 PM)

Is your 360 scale on the map correct? it reads due north 357, 358, 359, 360, 0, 1, 2, ....
You have a 361 degree scale? it should read 357, 358, 359, 0, 1, 2,...?

I was setting a course for Uss Olympia, an as i tried to set it dead north i noticed that with
a 20mi course, its heading counted 357, 358, 359, 360, 0, 1, 2,.... that is one degree too much

At a 2mi course, it read 359,7 359,8 359,9 360, 0 0,1 0,2 0,3.... that is 0,1 degree too much

I have a save but i refuses to be moved or copied into this browser, any way so, go to any game you are playing and see for yourself when you have the time, set a course with a sub at nothern hemisfhere or at ecuator, the problem is the same on my computer. I have
a 361 degree globe/map. I push this computer too far on some scenarios so it could be a problem on my side.

I have to add that you set the course due north, pause the game and try to move the course cursor to he east and west.

The range/bearing tool, reads correct 358, 359, 0, 1, 2 ....

I tried this out, and I think what you are seeing is the effect of rounding.

If you pause the game, hit F-3, and then move the mouse to plot your first waypoint, you can see the course readout up by the mouse cursor to one decimal place, going 359.4, 359.5, 359.6, 359.7, 359.8, 359.9, 360.0, 0.1, 0.2, etc.

Then, when you actually click to place the waypoint, the ship's course near the unit only displays to the nearest degree. So when you set a course of 359.8 it rounds up and displays 360. And when you select a course of 0.3 it rounds down and displays 0.

So you're not getting a 361 degree circle. You've only got 360 degrees, but due north has two "names", being called both 360 and 0 depending on which side the rounding is happening from.
