The Senshi Sosho was a multi volume history of the war that was written at the behest of the War History Office of the National Defense College of Japan. Its the closest thing Japan has to an official history of the war. The Leiden University has embarked on a project transalting some of the volumes (I think there are 102) that pertain to operations in the Dutch East Indies. If you click on this link ( https://www.cortsfoundation.org/ ) and then click on the Publications tab, you will find pdfs free to download of The Operations of the Navy in the Dutch East Indies and the Bay of Bengal (which is Volume 26 of the Senshi Sosho) and The Invasion of the Dutch East Indies (Volume 3). They run into the hundreds of pages but they are a great resource to have.

As all official histories they are not much on analysis, interpretation and discussion but nevertheless are a trove of information and knowledge on these events.

Enjoy.

Description, the first "level" of analysis, no matter HOW DETAILED, does not explain. I can describe a car down to the smallest nut or bolt thread size, etc., but it will never tell you what a car does or more importantly why it does it.

And your point is?

I did mention that there is little in the way of analysis, in what i have read so far. Similar to other official histories i have read

Since it upsets you so much, why don't you download them and do the analysis that you think should be there. Then send it to that organization and insist that your analysis be included.
