Now in late spring 43' in the East the Germany begins its offensive towards Voronezh with multiple Tank Cops and Armies, the Soviets are flashing Anti-Tank III units on the approach which is worrisome. Axis technology is becoming stagnant as I poor almost all resources into our forces to try to maintain out positions in Russia, refusing to retreat in almost any region.

In the North we have finally pushed the Soviet defenses south of Leningrad into poor territory, but just further South the Red Army attack on Velikiye Luki is ramping up and could see the Soviets capture the city and break out.

In the South near Rostov the situation appears impossible for the Axis at this time, The Soviet manpower is never ending.

Rommel and the DAK have made gains in Eastern Egypt but supply issues are significantly hampering, and the Allies have complete control of the sky.

The Axis have poured everything into the Eastern Front to avoid giving up territory back to the Soviets, Western Europe is ill defended and the raiding of Atlantic Convoys have entirely ceased.

Turkey is also dangerously close to joining the Allies, I've poured diplomacy into Turkey over the past 6 months but the Allies are determined to open up a new front in the Balkans.

The Axis which at one point seemed immune to destruction (only 1 ground unit destroyed as of May 42') have taken heavy losses on the Eastern Front. Though our losses pale in comparison to the Red Army.

It's a desperate fight to capture the Soviet supply bases along the Don River and shorten the Soviet offensive lines. Despite it appearing so achievable each turn the Red Army throws more and more forces into harms way, which are often destroyed before end of turn screenshots so it is a bit elusive to capture the struggle.

Axis income at the beginning of summer 43'. Germany has switched to a war economy for a much needed boost in military income. Our industry is extremely reliant on foreign trade at this point, Turkey's eventual entry into the war will be a double hammer as I'm collecting Chrome from the nation valued at 30 MPP per turn.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/28/2020 2:16:37 PM)

Finnish and German forces have linked up near Leningrad, pocketing a handful of Soviet units and potentially freeing up some of the Axis Army in the near future.

Army Center simply holds their vulnerable defensive positions near Moscow meanwhile Smolensk is coming under heavier attack. The town of Velikiye Luki has fallen to the Red Army and the Soviets are poised to put more pressure on the regions near Smolensk.

In the South we are edging ever so close to capturing the Soviet supply bases along the Don River which I think now is critical to victory.

The Western Allies make a surprise amphibious invasion in the Netherlands! I honestly did not expect this and now am forced to defend Western Europe.

Upcoming are a series of screenshot from July 43'. This is the turn I'm admitting that there is no chance of a decisive victory this round, and I am likely only to have a chance to win a minor/marginal victory by dragging the war on long enough to come to peace terms.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/28/2020 2:27:53 PM)

Western Europe can no longer be left undefended, a significant portion of our forces in the East are going to have to be redirected to the Western Front. The Allies have captured two ports, and things could escalate quickly if I try to only contain the Netherlands invasion force.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/28/2020 2:29:13 PM)

Rommel has completely run out of supplies in Egypt (0 supply this turn).

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/28/2020 2:34:50 PM)

Turkey could enter the war at any moment and the Axis have no capability to launch an offensive in the region.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/28/2020 2:43:35 PM)

The situation along the Eastern Front is dire our forward defensive lines at Moscow are while holding are under constant attack and the Soviets are successfully outflanking Army Group Center and Smolensk could soon fall due to poor supply which will open up fully a new front in the East.

The advance on Voronezh has been met with successful Soviet counter attacks and our limited successes along the Southern Don River has come at the cost of heavy losses.

Forces have to be diverted to Western Europe and it will be impossible to keep up our offensive capabilities in the South afterwards. Retreat is on the table, but difficult to commit to.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/28/2020 2:45:06 PM)

The Axis are now dwarfed in size by the combined economic power of the Allies.

In Western Europe Germany quickly advances on the limited Allied invasion through the Netherlands. This does not appear to be the "Big One" quiet yet.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/28/2020 5:33:01 PM)

Germany is finally admitting to be on the defensive in Russia. The Moscow front remains the most vulnerable, our positions in the South are formidable.

This turn Turkey prepares for war, and yet another front opens. Rommel's Tanks were also destroyed in Egypt, and with that the offensive capability of the DAK is shattered, it is unlikely reinforcements will be sent to North Africa at any remaining stage of the war.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/28/2020 6:31:07 PM)

Smolensk has been recaptured by the Soviets, the entirety of Army Group Center is at risk of being cut off. High Command is finally giving the order to retreat from the Moscow front, one half which will be a fighting retreat towards Kursk and the remainder sent to form defensive positions near Minsk which is almost undefended.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/28/2020 6:50:33 PM)

Army Group South retreats from Moscow and we reinforce our positions just west of Smolensk behind the river lines. Soviet Tanks are once again threatening Kursk. Central Russia has the potential to be highly contested in the coming turns but with little economic value the Axis will not hesitate to retreat to reduce losses.

The Netherlands is once again occupied by Germany after defeating the attempted Allied invasion of mainland Europe, a few ancillary units remain cut off and will be destroyed.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/29/2020 7:03:49 PM)

Fall weather begins on the Eastern Front, the Soviets this year have reclaimed a lot of territory and the Axis are struggling to maintain the defensive lines. I am hoping to restrengthen the Luftwaffe back to full strength for the beginning of 1944, the air force was used sparingly in 1943 due to heavy damage, mostly in areas which the Red Army lacked fighter coverage.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (2/29/2020 7:07:42 PM)

The Axis' have not been respecting Turkish entry into the war, having sent only a token defense to choke the Turkish straits, however a Turkish Tank Corps is likely strong enough to break through our defense at Gallipoli. High Command is considering if an invasion into Turkey as a secondary route to the Iraqi and Caucasus oil fields is justifiable as a next move, and could be a turning point in a war that we are currently losing.

crispy131313 -> RE: Fall Weiss II - Barbarossa AAR (3/1/2020 4:11:40 AM)

The situation continues to worsen on the Eastern Front as Axis occupied Kharkov has become a front line city and further north of the city our defensive positions have been shattered and a number of Axis HQ vulnerable to attack. If Kharkov falls our main defensive line across the Donets River which runs from Rostov to Kharkov could be jeopardized.

Their is no good news on any front at the moment.

Exciting AAR. Really hope you’ll let this one play out even if it ends in the ruins of Berlin.

Thanks, I'll be sure to play it through to the end, the previous AAR just became an Allied beating which only required an eventual paratroop into London is why it ended a bit early.
