2 Problems with game. (Full Version)

I have just purchased the game and have 2 problems.
Should mention I had no problem downloading and installing the game on Windows
10.

First Problem: Started the first tutorial game and cant see any units populating in the setup phase,(have disabled fog of war).
Noticed that American unit ID 1 is supposed to appear on hex 8,15. The map I have is 9 by 9 hexes?
The unit would have to appear in the neutral black zone.
Not sure if I am doing something wrong.

Second Problem: I tried updating to V1.1.09 and received the message: "Error occured trying to open FTP file".
I have run a virus scan and have no issues. I am not that tech saavy, but can navigate around my security settings.
Could use some direction if I have to change the settings.
I have download many games with no problem, including one
of the John Tiller games from Matrix.

Also tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling from "My Page” account
on Matrix.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

For problem one, choose human player vs computer player, use pointer mouse to scroll the screen or arrows computer and press space to activate next phase of the game.

For problem 2, did you click on the "Check for update" button on the first Game Menu?

Everybody goes through this where you can't see the opposition but
eventually most figure its a case of scrolling the map. It's not
obvious at first but you'll need to remember that when playing
some scenarios. The same for problem two. Most of the time I get
errors when I select "Check for update" even with virus protection
disabled. You'll have to go to the Matrix site then go to TotH to
find and download the latest update manually. [:)]

Thanks everyone for the responses. My game is fine. My brain is the issue.
I successfully downloaded update from "My Page" on the Matrix website.
