ORIGINAL: MB00 I had bought a cd with my online download. The CD would NOT allow for the patch. It found the patch but would not activate it. downloading the patch and then trying to execute it...led to discovery that somehow, the original cd installation somehow failed to notify windows 10 operating system that the game existed on this computer. An email to matrix...suggested I uninstall and reinstall. There is no uninstall file or menu icon on the game or within the game directory. I went to local computer shop...where windows 10 facilities were used to uninstall the game. Reinstalling the game twice ...led to resolution that the disc was faulty. We then discovered that matrix identified a default steam identifier. Downloading from steam worked with at least the first patch update. PROBLEM expected : Does the computer REQUIRE access to steam internet to play the game?? Taking computer to cottage or camp where I can get electricity but no internet is the reason I BOUGHT the CD package. result : should I send back the cd to get a "better" cd that will process the patch updates? Just tried the latest patch update 1.06.01 . yes it failed too! Mike B ..Ottawa canada Hi Mike, No the Matrix version of the game does not require steam at all to install or play the game. Only the Steam version does. You might also be having an issue with the user access control settings for your operating system (perhaps if they are set to be very strict) and what I would suggest is to do a full uninstall and reinstall as well, but when reinstalling, launching the installer directly from the CD and running as an Administrator to see if that helps. Installing the patch as an Administrator as well. Here are some handy instructions on how to uninstall an application on Windows 10 that might help: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/uninstall-programs-windows-10 When you try and install from the CD, load the CD into the drive, then navigate to the drive via the File Explorer (This PC) and open the drive and then right click on the 'Setup' EXE and select Run as Administrator. Please try the same for the patch file as well and let me know how it goes. Hubert
