Even though they are trained as bomber and mission is bomber the game treats them, and displays them on the airbase icon as fighters.

That would sure explain why fighter bomber ground kills are low.

Sorry to keep you.

When initiating a bombing mission fighter bombers trained and missioned as bombers are treated as fighters for the purpose of initiating the mission. So if these FBs are the only bombers in range then technically there are no bombers for the mission so it cannot be initiated. Simple solution is to add a real Bomber squadron to the airbase, which will allow the Pick Air Units for Mission to be displayed, and will list the FBs as Bombers.

Bombs away.

A technical defect with a simple work around.

Although interestingly for the Italian fighter bombers when there are no Italian other types of bombers this is never possible ...
