Erse -> what to purchase for Germany in MP? (3/21/2020 1:33:29 PM)

hello, I just lost my first game as Axis, one reason was probably because I'm bad at planning ahead and purchasing units only the moment I really needed them.

could any experienced players share what units they buy for germany and when they buy them? Do you purchase units every turn, or only when you notice that you need more? is it good to purchase a lot of Corps? What about more obscure units like cavalry and rail guns?

Also, is it a viable strategy to build up a pool of reserves far behind enemy lines to react quickly to D-Day for example?

Thanks in advance

The war is decided in the Soviet Union, buy units that help you there.

No, reserves are not viable.

As Axis you are targeting a Barbarossa kickoff of July to Oct '41 so all your German units need to be in the East by then. Buy Pz, TB and MB units and maybe 1 HQ for Germany before Barbarossa. If you buy Pz and TB before late '40 you get extra over limit units when Africa Cor spawns. Also build Romanian and Hungarian tank units. Early on focus on tech - always have 1 chit on advanced aircraft and tanks. You should really read a strategy guide or two to get the hang of it. Upgrade infantry tech to level 2 but do not upgrade mobility as it's too expense except for a few units like a spearhead Pz unit.

I suggest not mustering more than 10 units within 10 hexes of Warsaw after January 1941 unless you want to trigger increased USSR mobilization. See Strategy Guide. Keep the panzers and airplanes outside the 10 hex range.

After French surrender I only build new units (love the Hungarian and Rumanian armor idea) without any upgrades, keeping track of how many mpps it will take to upgrade and reinforce the attackers to full strength. I build the panzer grenadiers too plus special forces. I don't mechanize or add AA. In the final few months before H Hour I upgrade/reinforce the attackers all at once (this process takes more than one turn of production of MPPS).

I research infantry, fighters (against Allied strategic air when they come), tanks, and industrial technology (you'll need lots of MPPS for replacements in Russia).
