Nice, I was outside today for shopping. Streets are empty, no more cars on the road.
It's surreal.

And the silence, no more plane, ... nothing except few people in the street who changes the sidewalk so as not to meet you...

Indeed. Strange I hadn't noticed the lack of aircraft until you just mentioned it!

But yes, its weird, especially the people that either cross the road as you approach, or walk out into the middle of the road to keep the required distance - but then there's no need to worry about walking into the road because there are so few cars.

The buses continue to run but the drivers are transporting hardly anybody. I think three people on one bus was the most I saw today.

And outside just about every shop that is actually open - supermarket, pharmacy, a building supplier - there is a queue.

Strange times indeed....

It is exactly the same in Toronto. Thankfully, at the moment, the vast majority are respecting the precautions required. I do wonder what will happen when the weather starts to become sunny and warm.

We don't have that problem in the UK [:D]

I think that if we are still in lockdown in July/August - even June - then I'm not sure what the position will be amongst the general populace. We are already seeing - and have since the outset - people not taking this seriously, being anti-social and now we have numerous reports of ***** who think its a good idea to spit and/or breath at the elderly and shout that they have Coronavirus....

Times like this we see the best of humanity and the scum sucking pond life.

MrRoadrunner -> RE: The Positive Corona Virus Thread. (3/28/2020 4:48:27 PM)

My wife and I took a walk to see the swans yesterday.
It was kind of eerie in a way. No fumes from buses and trucks. Unearthly quiet. Hardly any people. A shopping mall across the street with a few cars in the lot and some workers waiting at a bus stop, for one of the few buses running.

We noticed that our path, usually strewn with paper and other debris thrown on the ground, was clear and clean. We hoped that after all gets back to "normal" that people throwing their garbage on the ground would not be part of the new normal.

They could be charged with something like assault and if the elderly become ill and especially die, the charges could be much worse. Even if the pond scum does not have the virus.

I used to paint 1/300th WWII airplanes. At that scale a Bf-109 could fit on a nickel. Now, at 66, I can't even see enough to paint. [8D]

I share this post of an American, who is in Canada.

As a Canadian, I say thank you for this American's kind words.

this is my quoting the post

Shannon Harder
An American, living in Canada during Covid-19...what ive learned about this wonderful country in a few short weeks

Im only 24 years old but ive seen alot... i remember alot from the past 20 years. Hurricane Katrina...the catastrophic hurricane that destroyed the south. The 9/11 terrorist attack. I was in 1st grade and confused why huge building were collapsing in NYC. Hurricane Irene...i drove over the Mississippi River on a trip to see my brother in Nebraska....a playground was flooded up to the nets of the basketball hoops. I remember the H1N1 flu outbreak. I was about 15 years old when the outbreak happened. Obama was president at the time. There was numerous other events in the past 20 years, but id sit here all day writing about them.
Now, Covid-19, attacking the WORLD. Every country, thousands and thousands of people sick, thousands dead. It is sad.
My personal experience of all of this...
My last day of work was March 13th. Ive been home every day since, as we have all been instructed to do. Ive gone to the grocery store twice since then. Now let me tell you what Canada has shown me thru all of this...
The politcal side - Our leaders alongside Justin Trudeau, have been nothing but strong, helpful, and caring towards all of us. It did not take long for them to figure out a great financial support system for all of the families and businesses here. There was no fighting about it between leaders, only teamwork to give us only the best, to help us all thru this. Trudeau makes frequent announcements from outside of his home, to keep us all feeling safe, and like we will ACTUALLY get thru this.
Now on a personal level, especially from what I saw this morning at the grocery store has absolutely blown me away. The KINDNESS these canadians have is like none other ive ever seen. First, the technicalities that the grocery stores have put in place are incredibe, only allowing so many people into the store at a time - you wait in a properlyspaced line outside until allowed to enter, the floors are all marked for how far you can stand from each other while in the checkout line, Walmart even has all of the aisles marked with which direction to walk throughout the store. Workers wipe down the self-checkouts after EVERY person checks out. Regular checkout lanes have thick plastic guards between the workers and customers. Once you leave the store, a worker takes your cart and wipes it down. You have to wait in line as each customer does this on their wayout.
As i was shopping, a gentleman had to hop in front of me to grab something off the shelf, he wasnt even within 8ft of me, but he said 'sorry' with a smile on his face. As i was waiting in the checkout line, a mother behind me with her child seemed exhausted and fustrated, trying to expain to her children why they cant touch everything, but she was quick to give me a smile and ask how my family was holding up...

My point here, im overwhelmed with the kindness, genuineness, and CARE that all of the Canadians have for each other. Whats going on in this world is scary right now, its unsettling. Ive never seen in my lifetime something like this happen. Nor have i seen this amount of kindness. Ever.

Ive lived in Canada for 4 years and Ive always loved it, but Covid-19 has really shown me the true STRENGTH and kindness that this country is all about. 🇨🇦💙🇨🇦
unquote.

I say thank you, and I'm unworried about the accuracy or it being genuine.

Feel free to laugh at me but I'm spending today trying to learn how to sew from my mother so that I can make us some homemade surgical masks to wear. I found instructions on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqlmDf6_hsY&feature=emb_logo

Of course, the lady in the video is confused about how to use the masks, you don't turn them around to use the other side, that's not why you use two different distinct patterns or colors. But I guess everything else about the video is OK, as far as how to make the masks.

You could get some ladies undergarments, cut them up, attach some straps for around the head, and enjoy. Just make sure that you get the right size cups . . .

Pure genius. [:D]

No, they should still work for growing melons on a trellis. Just make sure to adjust them as needed so the frilly lace does not get incorporated into the nice melons . . . [;)]

My favorite watermelon to grow is Moon and Stars with the red flesh. Not the small round ones.
