durnedwolf -> No Rodger Neilson Please (3/27/2020 10:02:24 PM)

So I'm looking over the game from Rodger Neilson which is in 1945. This is the Japanese side of the game.

Lack of fuel and supplies seems to be my dilemma. I'll share a few screenies.

I've never been this far as a Japanese player. Any pointers/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Within the Japanese home islands, if I turned off all production except for the refineries while still having some oil in the home islands - what happens? Any production of fuel?

The refineries will only produce fuel if they have the full amount of oil needed. Other than hoarding oil at a base that can use it and transporting it from bases that can't use it, I don't see how you will get more fuel.

1. Check your xAKs and xAPs. Much of the late war fuel is stored in their bunkers. New ones come fully laden. Put together some amphibious TFs with BBs, CAs, Cls and DDs with those fully laden xAKs and then 'refuel at sea'. You should be able to use them to homogenize the combatants' fuel levels. Then you can repeat with CVs.

2. For goodness sake, turn off your armaments. All of them. Getting them >200,000 in the face of a fuel shortage was a waste of fuel and HI. When you say you turned off production are you also including shipyards of all types?

3. Where are the 64.3MM resources around the map? If Hakodate has been bombed out, you may be able to get stuff in from Ominato to other northern Honshu ports. I wouldn't plot their travel too far-you don't want to jeopardize their bunker fuel levels (see 1 above). Get supply into the home islands if that supply is being generated from other LI centers (where you have your 64.3MM resources for example).

So I've checked the xAKs & xAPs - many of the xAK/AP are drained...

I turned off ev-er-ry thing - lol. And then I've tentatively turned on the refineries. I'm just not sure if they will create a "demand" to pull oil from other nearby bases.

Listen to this guy ^

Also, auxiliary vessels tend to have large bunkers, and check all nearby islands. They start game with substantial fuel reserves. What about Korea, Formosa, PI? All lost?

You might get some fuel production in refinery, but it will probably wander to largest HI center immediately.

Where *are* the 64.3MM resources? What's the resource status in China? Any fuel or oil at Port Headland?

durnedwolf -> RE: No Rodger Neilson Please (3/28/2020 12:39:40 AM)

The bulk of the resources are at Fukuoka, Shimonoseki, and Sapporo - see the pic above in post 8. China is pretty much gone, same with the PI.

I'll send some map pics in a few hours. I'm fixin' to BBQ and get my rub on. :-)

Oh - I sent off the turn to Roger. This is a great learning opportunity for me as I've never been this deep into a game as Japan.

And thanks to everyone that is willing to offer suggestions for me - I greatly appreciate it. :-)
