Sorry, I didn't find another place to post this:

It seems that if you automaticaly subscribe to an answered thread when you have turned on the option "E-mail notification as default"

Now for me it would be nice to subscribe to a thread automaticaly when answerded, but without E-mail notification. Is that possible?

Im fairly sure that subscription into a thread means you get email notification of all new posts in that thread. So no you cant seperate them.

Sad thing...

It's difficult sometimes to divide the E-mail notifications by the Matrix forums from spam. At least when you use Outlook.

By the way: who's idea was to name that thing "outlook"? :rolleyes:

Losqualo: What I do to unsubscribe to a catergory/thread is after recieving the first notice I go to user cp at top of page and then slide down and CLICK ON "Unsubscribe to this....."

Just never ever use publicly your (most important) email address, and you will never get spam. I know i havent.;)

That's a loooooong sad story. Being a newby to newsletters back in 1995, I gave my E-Mail adress to nearly everyone. And now it's too late to change it I'm afraid. I'd loose too many connections.

But getting about 80 E-Mails per day isn't fun. (80 without notifications from the forums). Without spam there are about 2 or 3 important E-mails per day, that I HAVE to read.

I don't know what version of outlook you are using but in version 6.0 at least there is an options in the tools to create rules. With a bit of imagination you can use this function to at least divide differing emails into different folders.

For instance, in order to make sure I don't lose an email turn (don't laugh Josan) I have a folder called Korsun. In the rules I tell the program to place any mail that comes from [x] people and has an attachment, to place it in the Korsun folder. Savvy?

Another option of course is to use an anti spamming program of which there are many now proliferating on the the net. Actually does that mean they are spam? :rolleyes:

Thanks Brubaker II,

but after fiddling with Outlook for a year or so, I decided it would be saver to tell Outlook to place the "spam" mails into my "incoming" folder.

I had some nasty discussions with clients because Outlook decided their E-mails would be spam...:eek:
. Sometimes Outlook was right after all, but I wanted a bit more of control...:rolleyes:

Hmm this thread got away from me it seems.

Just want to comment, yes I was fairly liberal with who got my email. I learned.

I changed my email just recently. Amazingly all the email traffic from the old email address is now gone. Well considering I turfed the old address not surprising.

Regarding unsubscribing though, I get email notification, but each email notification has a link right in the email that allows you to unsubscribe imbedded in it as well.

Plus, it is possible to mass unsubscribe as well.

Best course of action, get a hotmail account for weird stuff you might want to indulge, after all who cares what goes there right?

Save your main email for only things you really care about.

Thanks for the tips, but my problem was the other way around.

What I would like to see is an automatic subscription to a thread you answered without the E-mail notification.
I just wanted to know if the forum software allows this. :)
