Hi, playing the Allies in a Campaign game. I don't understand the purpose of the National Reserve. I've read everything in the Living manual so I understand the mechanics, but I don't understand it from the game play perspective. Should I occasionally go around my airbases and assign every air group available from the National Reserve? Is there any reason to leave air groups in the National Reserve?
Thanks,
Jim

yes, get them on map asap. In WiTW the reserve is just where newly arrived air units are located so you can then make the decision as to which air command/base you wish to assign them to.

In addition to the reinforcement schedule one useful trick is to set the Commanders Report to only show air units in the reserve - can be really handy if you happen to miss some (which is easy to do)

Having said that, they just sit in the reserve doing nothing. So its no harm to miss them or delay their transfer to the map

Can you put units into a national reserve to repair them like war in the East. I have many front-line units with a lot of damaged and reserve aircraft why is that? Sorry still learning this game quite a lot.

no

with the allies I tend to set up a small training school of formations and base it in Scotland. This is a good way to get a decent number of competent pilots for some of the smaller nationalities.

Other than that, units will take on replacement pilots pretty much anywhere and replacement planes as long as they are in decent supply. Best set to rest while you are recovering as that stops them flying in the meantime.

It would be handy to have an abstract national reserve for both sides where you dump low morale/beaten up formations but you usually have plenty of on map air base capacity.

Thanks Loki100, and nice tip on using the CR to find them easily.
