What do red hex borders around air unit icons mean? I notice the air units might have good supply (over 5), but sometimes they have red borders (I notice when they do a common factor can be that either they have low morale or preparedness, less than 50%, somehow related with this?).

If you use all topics and search red hex on the War in Europe forum it is explained.

There was a change made to the engine quite some time ago regarding air units and supply, and these are the relevant notes, hope these help.

- Air units will no longer receive supply from an HQ unless they are attached.
- under supplied Air units, due to not being attached to an HQ, will be indicated by a red hatch beneath the applicable Air unit.
- under supplied Air units, attached to an HQ but not to the most optimal supply giving HQ, will be indicated by a purple hatch beneath the applicable Air unit.
