Greetings to All, History Channel will have a 3 part mini series on Civil War with DiCaprio playing General Grant: https://meaww.com/history-leonardo-di-caprio-documentary-ron-chernow-grant IS this the Titanic version of General Grant?

If I were doing a young Grant I'd use Matthew Mcconaughey with a beard. If I were doing an older Grant I'd use Russell Crowe. DiCaprio looks nothing like him. [8\|]

Greetings Challerain, Current word is that he is to play Grant but production is on hold (see link): https://saratogaliving.com/wilton-grant-cottage-history-channel-ulysses-s-grant/ I am a 25 minute ride from Grant's house and have seen it.

I don't like him but for reasons that go beyond the scope of this BBS. He's a great actor and probably a good director. His Howard Hughes acting was fantastic, I really enjoyed that movie. He'll do a good job of it. He's really good at what he does.

WOOT, Finally something up my alley, CIVIL WAR BABY[8D][&o]. On a side note, he is a good actor I think he do good at the job, if he directors well, I don't know if his Civil war history is up to par, but his other movies aren't to bad, but i'll hold my judgement, I'm just so happy thereis a CIVIL WAR POST FINALLY. Greetings Again All, Steven Spielberg's choice to direct Leonard DiCaprio in Grant Biopic: https://www.slashfilm.com/grant-biopic-spielberg-dicaprio/ The History Channel is now running very short (45-90 seconds) spots for the Grant miniseries, usually in the afternoon/evening commercial breaks. One shows Grant on horseback w/cigar.

I never saw such a clear picture of a Grant tank before. Man, that looks like death trap.., high profile, zero armor slope.

Still there were the 88s. So it wasn't all bad. Certainly wasn't all good but the Brits needed tanks badly and they were a stop gap until the M4 could reach them.

The 37mm gun as also effective at the time. Plus it could fire HE which the British 2 pounder did not.

If your choice was a Crusader II. Which was under armoured, under powered, under gunned and unreliable. Or a Matilda II, Which was well armoured. but under powered. Under gunned. Or a valentine II which was the same. You were probably better off in a Daimler or Humber scout car. In a Daimler you had the same armament. And although your armour was negligible. The others weren't going to stop an 88, or Pak 50 round, either. And at least you could flee the DAK at speed. The Grant was bad. But it was the very best of the bad, for quite a while.
