pclaurent -> [RESOLVED] Still no attachments support in the workshop (4/9/2020 4:16:06 PM)

Still waiting for a fix to be able to publish on the workshop my scenario "The Wolf's call" with the associated sounds. CMO version 1141.1 still does not include a solution (problem reported on January 12, logged under #0013588). I hope that one day the developers will look into the problem, which is not a simple cosmetic bug but a missing functionality which, I suppose, affects all scenarios with attachments ...

michaelm75au -> RE: Still no attachments support in the workshop (4/9/2020 4:43:15 PM)

I just tested this.
I added a scenario that has scenario attachments to the workshop.
Subscribed and waited for it to download
Started up Command and put it from the Steam Workshop tab.
The scenario was there with its attachments.

You can tell if it has scenario attachments by looking in the Steam download folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\1076160 under the id of the subscribed item; there should be the SCEN file and an 'attachments' folder.

Here is the image of the item uploaded to Workshop if you want to try subscribing to see what happens.

[BTW I am using 1141.1 on Steam]

I also subscribed to 'The Wolf's Call (random)' and got the attachments (there were 17 of them) loaded.

Tx for the input, Michael. AFAIK the issue 0013588 is still opened, and the problem is still there, at least on my side. I'm glad you can download the sounds attached with the Wolf's Call scenario, but that's not my case and I know at least another guy who can't (I'm using the local scenario I've created, but can't use the workshop's one for that reason). Worked fine in CMANO, but the exact same thing doesn't work in CMO. I noticed it the day I installed CMO (many months ago).

Can you have a look at the following procedure that creates a blank new scenario with an attachment and post it to the workshop? I've sent it to the dev team who opened a case for it, so I suppose they could reproduce it, but I haven't heard of them after they acknowledeged the problem. I tested it one more time with 1141.1 and had the exact same issue (scenario downloaded, but no sound attached to it).

Create new scenario
Go to Scenario attachments
Create new of type: Local sound
Chose a sound file (e.g. "test.mp3")
Add/Edit sides - Add side "player"
Event editor - Special action
-- Name "play", one line of code:
-- ScenEdit_UseAttachment("Local Sound: test.mp3")
-- Ok
Run Scenario
Special actions - Press button play (the sound plays)
Publish scenario to workshop, name="test attachment"
Then, delete the contents of AttachmentRepo to be sure that that no attachment exists locally.
In Steam workshop, subscribe to the scenario
Back in CMO, Start New Game
Chose Steam workshop - test attachment.scen
Play scenario
Special actions - Press button play (nothing happens)
The AttachmentRepo directory is still empty
The Scenarios\Steam Workshop\attachments directory is empty (no attachment has been download in there).

michaelm75au -> RE: Still no attachments support in the workshop (4/10/2020 12:47:48 AM)

When subscribed to, the scenario folder is loaded into '<Steam home>\SteamApps\workshop\content\1076160'.
If you go to that folder and look at the folder for the item subscribed, you should see the SCEN file and a folder 'attachments'.
Once you load that scenario thru CMO, the contents of 'attachments' is copied to 'AttachmentRepo' and then deleted.

I tried this again this morning, and it still worked - I deleted all the folders from 'AttachmentRepo' just to be sure.

Can you do your test again, but check the Steam folder after it downloads to be sure the attachments are getting uploaded.

[The issue was that CMO was looking in the wrong folder for the workshop attachments - they were always uploaded to Steam Workshop. The issue was fixed in March but I don't know which build it came out in.]

And before and after I start CMO selecting 'The Wolf's call' from the Steam Workshop tab.

I did these steps (I added both a new and existing attachment) and it also worked - workshop item 'test attachment' under my files.
Try subscribing to that as I know it works. Only other thing I can think of is a folder access issue with copying the folders to AttachmentRepo.

There isn't any errors showing in the CMO Logs\ExceptionLog.txt??

pclaurent -> RE: Still no attachments support in the workshop (4/10/2020 8:59:09 AM)

Thanks for your input, I didn't know the workshop/content structure and the file copy mechanism. So I deleted everything I could in the AttachementRepo and retried from scratch. Now... It seems to work!
Something strange happened during the first install of CMO and the problem lasted since this time. Really too bad...

I just posted a new version of my scenario, hope you'll enjoy it.
if I encounter other difficulties I'll let you know but for now everything seems fine.

Thanks again
Philippe
