DONNIE67 -> [Fixed] Airborne status reporting not consistent (4/22/2020 8:25:42 PM)

Hi

There appears to be a discrepancy in the reporting of aircraft status in the Changjiang Strike scenario.

Some units that are airborne are correctly shown as airborne while others are not.

I will also upload the save game when I figure out how. Launch any of the helos at the bottom of the ops screen for the escorts and compare the status to launching a few fighters for a given aircraft type from the carrier.

Is that the AirOps screen? Normally once a plane is launched, it doesn't show up there.
Zip up the save and then you can attach it.

Hi. Tx for replying back.
This situation applies for all scenarios. With my save game I was not able to replicate the screenshot.

However it can be replicated as follows:

1. Launch an aircraft. It disappears from the screen once airborne
2. Minimize the aircraft type group
3. Expand the aircraft type group. The aircraft will re-appear as "airborne". In some cases the group cannot be subsequently expanded
4. Close the air ops screen entirely
5. Reopen the air ops screen. The aircraft previously shown as airborne is no longer visible.

I an not sure if this WAD but the inclusion of a pervasive airborne status for affected units greatly helps with the big picture of air ops without having to scroll through ORBAT or mission planning screens. Otherwise the air ops screen is more akin to ground/deck ops only.

tx and stay well

Here is a sample save. The aircraft are about to depart

"I will also upload the save game when I figure out how."

If you read through the post at the top of the tech support forum, it clues you in to how and where to post.

I posted the save game above and attempted to describe the condition . The problem i was having had to do with zipping the file to zip format using right click send to zip. Pretty simple..

I originally had this under a feature request thread but I stumbled upon the airborne notification while playing recently. I do remember it appearing in previous releases from years ago but figured it was removed for whatever reason.

The observation is why an airborne notification for a unit appears initially but then disappears from subsequent viewing of the air ops screen. The granularity of the unit status is pretty amazing to begin with- waiting/taxy, taking off, landing, readying, etc..

When the Ops screen is loaded, I think it loads all the a/c in that location. When the a/c is launched, it removes it from the view but not from the list it read when the screen was first loaded.
So when you expand the grouping, the a/c is still in the list and thus it is being shown (with it's status).

Yea, this sounds like a display issue and doesn't affect the game.

Logged for investigation.

Fixed for next update. Aircraft that have taken off will no longer be visible in their group list even if you collapse and expand the group.

Hi Steve

At some point do you think it would be possible to show what planes are in the air through the air ops window?

Thank you you and the Team again for the constant upgrades to this sim.
