Im still sitting at 8 BBs sunk, while i know its more like 4

Initial reporting is often over-optimistic due to fog of war. Many times you would get a report about the large enemy ship being sunk after just one torpedo hit. You'll quickly learn to discount that sort of news and instead look on other indicators like sinking sounds after the battle or ship-based planes destroyed.

sajm0n -> RE: another Newby's questions... (5/15/2020 10:04:15 PM)

Resources convoys question:
22th of December and im already running out of resources in Port Arthur (800), Fusan (9k) and soon probably also Shanghai (87k). Each port has Resource Storage turned on (Port Arthur only for ~7 days).
Why it was recommended to bring such a huge amount of cargo ships to Port Arthur especially, instead of for example to Keijo, where there is still 500k resources right now? Or is it going to change soon and i should just stick with it?

RangerJoe -> RE: another Newby's questions... (5/16/2020 2:20:14 AM)

They should relocate. Just move resources from Fusan to save fuel.

sajm0n -> RE: another Newby's questions... (5/16/2020 5:41:03 PM)

Ok ill turn off Storage in Port Arthur and move some ships from there to Keijo for now.

Another question is about industry repairs.
I have same bases where nothing seems to be repairing... In Tsu everything is at 0(8), 0(30) etc. Should i change anything here, or is it just a slow process and nothing to be done?

Dili -> RE: another Newby's questions... (5/16/2020 5:49:41 PM)

You need at least 10000 supply to repair.

RangerJoe -> RE: another Newby's questions... (5/16/2020 5:51:54 PM)

Research factories take a long time to repair, they have their own system.

funny reports im getting:

Turn_ 9: BB Pennsylvania - Enemy ship falsely reported sunk - Originally reported sunk on turn 5
Turn 15: BB Pennsylvania - Enemy ship falsely reported sunk - Originally reported sunk on turn 10
Turn 16: BB Pennsylvania - Enemy ship sunk near San Francisco

Give me a break lol

You are lucky, now imagine not knowing your subs were sunk. Or HMS Sydney did not reported back...or your communications failed and the Halsey carrier TF went on its own without you knowing.

btd64 -> RE: another Newby's questions... (5/16/2020 9:20:27 PM)

I would set the supply spinner to 4k minimum to maintain over 10k of supply. Because you need a minimum of 10k at the base for repairs to get done and it cost 1k to repair it....GP

As you can see on the image above, i managed to encircle 2 Chinese cities:
- Loyang (73k troops)
- Chengchow - (70k troops)
- and theres also 3rd stack of 40k troops
Im planning to attack Loyang first (1.5k AV are on the way) and then proceed to Chengchow.

Now question is, when i deliberate Loyang, where will enemy troops retreat - is it guaranteed its Chengchow?
What if i had troops Chengchow as well, would they still try to retreat there?
What if one of the hexes i occupy at the moment was empty by the time of attack?
Obviously i want them all to eventually surrender and not retreat to somewhere safe.

Also question about their supply. Can they actually die because of lack of supplies if i wait long enough?

RangerJoe -> RE: another Newby's questions... (5/23/2020 3:06:06 PM)

If you are planning on taking Chungking, push the Chinese units out of the way, trap them, but don't destroy them so they don't come back at Chungking or the other replacement city right next to the mountains.

If you press W, the the map will show hexside control.

sajm0n -> RE: another Newby's questions... (5/23/2020 7:10:05 PM)

i didnt know they will just rebuild units. well that sucks

If you don't read the manual you are going to find yourself sucking a lot.

Yes
What if i had troops Chengchow as well, would they still try to retreat there?
No. Retreat can only go to neighbour hexes w/o enemy troops
What if one of the hexes i occupy at the moment was empty by the time of attack?
still Chengchow, if it is empty. If not empty, they will try to retreat along the open path to other nearby base
Obviously i want them all to eventually surrender and not retreat to somewhere safe.

No. AI units can persevere for a long time, plus there is some supply production in those cities

That is the typical stupid response put up by the intellectual lazy AE posters.

No one has to read the manual every night. But when a problem is encountered the answer is usually found in the manual. All it requires is looking it up.

Reliance on just asking the forum is not reliable as too often quire incorrect answers are posted. If you haven't checked the manual first, how are you going to recognize when an incorrect answer has been provided. Just because a poster has thousands of posts credited to themselves or they have been playing AE for a decade or mods the game is no guarantee per se that their answers can be relied upon.
