HvMoltke -> Clarification on readiness status (5/11/2020 2:38:37 PM)

Hi
A thread by KPAX triggered my suspicion on the term readiness status and the ability to repair in a port.

You can repair System damage in readiness mode.

The Ship Repair 101 Guide by Alfred says
quote:

Repairs are made to ships which are in one of the following “repair modes”.
• Readiness
• Pierside
• Repair ship
• Shipyard

and

quote:

“Readiness mode” is the game default mode. In “readiness mode” a ship remains in a state of combat readiness. The ship can be in a task force or disbanded in a port (includes an anchorage which is a port sized 0). Generally speaking this is by far the least efficient “repair mode” (see sections 9 and 12 below for justification for this claim).

the manual says
6.2.15
TFs may dock at a friendly base (this is different from ships anchored at a port because they’re
not assigned to a TF). Ships that are docked do not suffer operational damage and will be able
to repair damage faster than if at sea,

Okay
to activate readiness status you have to disband a ship.
If you dock a ship you can`t repair the ship actively, but the crew will repair the ship.
How fast is this, compared to being at sea.
Can anybody help me to cut the Gordian knot in my head

Quite fast in large ports. it's not only the crew, it's also port facilities.

Hi GetAssista
That means a docked ship is in readiness status, is that right?

Yes, but being docked does not mean the crew is available to work on repairs - the ship is fully active. Disbanding the ship releases most of the crew to work on repairs (often only a single boiler kept hot to run the electrical generator). I don't think the port does any repairs on a docked, active TF either.

It does, although much slower than disbanded. Pretty noticeable for light ships like subchasers and such when you don't want to disband or juggle your TF for a menial sys repair.
