I might be giving this up for good and I've been playing it for years. I just flew a mission in the 1944 campaign game. I let the computer set up the 8th AF missions and then I modified them to add escorts etc. I lost 139 out of 143 B-17 on a raid to bomb Ball bearings at Klaganfurt (?) and another 39 B-24's on a raid to bomb syn fuel near Frankfurt. I laid down lots of recon and some fighter sweeps along the main routes. When did the 8th ever lose 150 heavies on a single day? The AI in is game is messed up. Tell me what I'm doing wrong please? I cant go on losing 150 heavies a day, and yes, I nailed 95 German fighters along the way.

Remember this is a simulation, things can differ from real events. I have often shot down over 200 heavies in the course of a day, twice going over 300 not to mention adding the RAF night bombers. Best day, well over 500 Allied losses in total. And I have suffered as the Allies although I tend to play LW.
Now is this one event or have the LW been repeating this success?

I can't tell what you are doing wrong unless you show me how your raid was structured with escorts and altitude, and what the cloud cover was like.

The AI usually does a good job with adding escorts but based on the altitude of the raid, some allied planes don't do so well. We added a feature in the next patch that allows players to see the altitude-performance bands for each aircraft so they can have this information before they design a raid.
