I extracted the update to my game folder. It replaced all the usual files. However, when I click play, I get a message stating that it is missing a 1143.1 file and won't start.

Never mind, I fixed it. Norton 360 did not like the command.exe file and kept deleting it until I set Norton to ignore the file.
