Hi everybody.

Looking over the Dorniers' AAR thread, I got a hankering for playing WITPAE vs a comp.... again.

I just won Andy's (better AI) scenario 01 (it downloads into the 33 slot), as Japan, by taking out India. Have to say the AI for continental land warfare is atrocious (nothing against Andy, it is system limitation) - huge armies just sit in 2-3 cities, did not challenge my Japanese "flooding" of the whole continent. In China am camped in Chungking, sieging it, carpet bombing it, and waiting for the gazillion Chinese KMT to finally surrender.

Naval AI is somewhat better, although it has target fixation - the script decides right, from this date to that date, this region, this base is important, and will throw units at it... time after time. For a month or more.

But playing with historical Japanese units, have to say even the AI Allied was a challenge due to sheer amount of stuff they get versus how little Japan had (I can see why they did not land in Australia or India - with what).


So finally after this ramble (typical Timo) I have a long winded (!!!) question:

What is a good scenario for me to play as Allies vs Japanese computer, with Japan not having star wars stardestroyers (like in some mods), with China and India continental land warfare somewhat fixed (this is important, otherwise game is too easy)?

I think the only choice I have is "Ironman Allied" in slot 023 or "War in the Pacific Ironman Part 2" in slot 010?

Is Ironman Part 2 too ridiculous and "star wars Japan" with Japan having insane forces?

Go with Ironman Allied I think....


Are these my only options for Allied AI to be a somewhat of a challenge? Are there other grand campaign scenarios for AI Japan?


Sigh.... I might just break down and play a human Japan.

I can’t comment on those scenarios as I haven’t played them, but if you impose a few house rules on yourself that would help to avoid things getting lopsided.
Lowpe is doing that even in his Dorniers game.

Timotheus, you could try giving RHS mod a go. Install the RHS mod and open scen122, non-historical start, just to familiarise yourself with new bases/units. The drawback of the RHS mod is its economy system, which has an abundance of supplies for both sides.

Sorry I am unclear is this a

1. Japanese player v Allied AI
In which case same as Lowpe Scen 17 is best (I am working on an update but that's the current one)

2. Allied Player v Japanese AI
Scen 2 is the lowest form of benefit for AI
Scen 10 is a bit more
Scen 22 is a bit more with a lot more toys
Scen 23 is space hamsters from outer space and the space dreadnought Yamato (not quite but its insane)


The AI doesn't get any better the resources the AI has to implement its plans increases and the higher the tier the more I compensate for known AI weaknesses - e.g. the AI is piss poor at protecting amphib TF's the larger the tier the more Q ships of various flavour appear as the AI will use them and they give convoys some protection
