As good as unarmed. If you convert 3200 capacity Transmarine xAK you get an AG with DP/heavy AA in twelve days, and the new ship class fits easily in port level 1 with escorts 3.Experience levels of ships Merchant ship exp at game'sstart is pretty low in 5-25 experience range on first turn. Always check if the exp of xAKL/xAK you want to use. Two ships may be in identical class, but one ship exp is 6, and the other one may be 25. Hope it helps.
