Podolano -> “No additional repairs possible” message (6/3/2020 10:52:01 PM)

Hi All,

I’m playing as the Allies against Japan AI in the Scen #1, The Full Campaign.
Now it’s Oct 42.

For quite some time now, upon opening the Ops Report, I’ve been getting tens of lines of the following message:

“No additional repairs possible on (ship name) using currently assigned resources at (Midway, PH, Canton, Sydney, Darwin, Port Moresby, Noumea)”

Any hints on why is this happening and how to overcome this?

Is it because of:

1. Lack of supply (doesn’t seem to be the case, as I’ve got plenty in those ports)
2. Lack of resources
3. Lack of fuel (PH and SY have lots of it)
4. Port size (PH and Sydney are size 9 by now)
5. Lack of naval support
6. Any other thing missing

I’d appreciate your comments/suggestions...

it means that (ship name)is in damaged state and it can't be repaired under the repair mode you have it
if you have a ship under repair mode pierside or readiness, it won't repair float or engine damage unless some conditions like port size or naval support or tenders

if you have a shipyard, and it is bigger than the ship in question, simply change the repair mode to shipyard and it will repair
try it in Pearl Harbor

Another thing to keep in mind is that ships easily accumulate routine (maintenance) damage without your realizing it. After a long voyage your task force will disband in some boondocks of a port with what would appear to be negligible damage to some ships. In a major port like Pearl Harbor or San Francisco it might repair at readiness without your even noticing, but can't be fixed in a primitive place like Port Moresby or Noumea. That's when it pops up in the Ops Report.

It's kind of a nuisance, just skim it. Makes sense to check all your ships now and then by stacking the list by floatation damage, then engine, then system. You'll spot the ones on fire right away.

Q-Ball -> RE: “No additional repairs possible” message (6/4/2020 2:29:26 AM)

That message is a nuisance...I wish it would filter out all the ships with less than 5 major damage or whatever, so it only shows you the ships that really do need other repair options. But most of them are 1 damage AKs or whatever.

None of the above.

The messages simply tells you that you have to switch ship's current repair mode to another repair mode. If you already have a ship in Pierside mode and you see this messege, you simply need to seek a port with a repair ship or shipyard that is big enough to house the ship. For the Allies in the south, it is either Sydney or Pearl Harbor

Rather than going off on a wildly speculative and irrelevant exercise, did the thought of actually looking up the manual even occur to you? Or even checking to see if there were any relevant game mouse over tool tips provided?

For those dependent on others to do the work for them, my ship repair 101 guide explains the relevant factors.

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2990845&mpage=1&key=repair

Of course you would still have to investigate which factor is in play in this particular instance. Not too much to ask.

Alfred

Not sure that was necessary, Alfred. It was a fair question, constructively addressed until your input.

Given the amount of babysitting and micromanaging required in the game, it is only reasonable to expect such questions to arise.

We're always lucky to get feedback from Alfred, even when he's cranky.

Haven't heard from this guy for a while. Anybody know what's up with him?

I agree. We all have reasons to be cranky lately, I suppose.

Thanks for the valuable feedback, Guys (including Alfred's)
