EdwardsD -> RE: Got a crash? post the full debug report on the forum! (6/8/2020 6:03:20 PM)

I got a crash, unfortunately the Matrix forum wouldn't let me post the copy-and-paste log as you requested. Something about not being able to post links. Perhaps other people are having the same problem?

Abrslam -> RE: Got a crash? post the full debug report on the forum! (6/9/2020 12:27:12 AM)

I just had one of these crashes but didn't copy the info. I'll get it next time though!

Here you go. Founded a new zone, tried to open asset menu by clicking "N", then got exception:

I got the same problem. Doesn't allow me to post since it considers part of the log as a link I guess.

See 3rd post in this thread for an alternative posting address.

thisismyname -> Crash that looked different (6/12/2020 6:28:10 PM)

Got a crash but it was a different error.

"ShadowEmpire.exe has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Debug/Close Program"

I have had this same error when passing the turn, the "AI Playing!" series of events happen, but at the end when the new turn comes it always crashes, consistently like clockwork. Can't progress in my game.

koplinsol -> RE: Crash that looked different (6/14/2020 11:20:10 AM)

Clicking the OOB still leads me to crash. Real bummer.

koplinsol -> RE: Crash that looked different (6/14/2020 11:54:25 AM)

(Deleted double post)

76mm -> RE: Crash that looked different (6/15/2020 2:16:48 PM)

This game is very unstable on launch for me--at least 50% of the time I try to start a game, it crashes, but with no error message--it just shuts down. This is getting annoying.

Once the game starts, it is generally stable, BUT:
1) I've had the game crash once or twice during play; and
2) In my last game at about the 150 turn mark I started getting very weird visual artifacts--when I tried to click on a unit or hex, some other hex would appear there, or a dark highlight. This recurred over several turns.

Vic -> RE: Crash that looked different (6/16/2020 8:17:34 AM)

@Koplinsol,
Just to be sure: If you are at least on v1.03-beta1 then send me a savegame to vic@vrdesigns.net please. If not please install the latest Open Beta and retry with the OOB tab.

@76mm,
First of all please report your game version number.

This sounds like some sort of system - game problem.

Could you post or email (vic@vrdesigns.net) me a dxdiag file?

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

Best wishes,
Vic

76mm -> RE: Crash that looked different (6/16/2020 6:31:04 PM)

Hi Vic,

Most of these issues epwere om 1.02...I just installed 1.03 and think i had pronle,s with it crashing on load, but am not sure.

I would send the diag file but am actually in the process of wiping my computer to reinstall windows—my wifi stopped working.

got this, just after starting to load a new scenario, its consistent:

Vic -> RE: Crash that looked different (6/18/2020 2:13:26 PM)

@loki

Seems to be a resolution issue.

Are you using the windows.txt hack?

Are you using any in-game DPI or resolution change?

What is your actual screen resolution?

You could try deleting your editobj.txt file to clean any such settings.

feel free to send a diagdx to vic@vrdesigns.net

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

best,
Vic

Best wishes,
Vic

The game won't start. I don't get any error messages. It loads the intro and gets to the Load Game button. When I click it the game just crashes with no error message. Note I have Advanced Tactics Gold which works fine. Stephen

Hi VIC. I got a crash it 1.04b3. Here is the log. It is a cast exception. I was attacking a unit, my MG INF battalion had a mistic priest attached.

The forum won´t let me paste the exception log, but I can send it by email...

It is a cast exception, that says string "Mystic priest took " cannot be converted to double . Line 1848 of file CombatProcess_SE1.vb .

Kaspar -> RE: Got a crash? post the full debug report on the forum! (9/2/2020 8:01:42 PM)

Got this crash in 1.05. I've sent an email with the autosave.
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

In the interest of a higher-purpose (pursuing the crash's root-cause), I will tip my strategic hand in this game...

The "Rebels in Soberholt" event that eheiser got was from my playing not one, but two, of the "Call To Power I" strategems on his zone of Soberholt (at great PP expense) in my turn of the same round 98 (which occurs before eheiser's).

Hope this helps figure it out,
-Mark R.
