Majick -> Struggling with replacements (6/6/2020 4:33:52 PM)

Hi All,

I have one SHQ and a number of subordinate army HQs.

I have been able to add replacements to the SHQ for riflemen, haulers, axi-MGs and rovers.

For militia units I cannot replace troops because they are a different type e.g my starting mechanised units have militia and irregular components. How am I supposed to replace their losses, or do they just die out?

For army units when I try to replace, for example, riflemen, a window comes up which allows me to move a bar saying how many 100s to replace. But the replace button next to it does nothing and the window below with QTY, NAME and PEOPLE as headings has nothing in it. My SHQ has replacements, so why can't I apply them.

Sorry if this is obvious, but google and youtube don't seem to have this info..

In the manual (p.29) i found "The slower your Militia will (re)grow"

Apparently the militia will reinforce itself, and since you do not have many options regarding them, makes sense. But hopefully someone can conform....

Militia troops are automatically generated in a zone with high Militancy provided there are not already more militia troops from this zone on the map than the maximum amount possible, but they don't seem to ever reinforce depleted militia units on the map, and rather only serve the purpose of putting together new battalions or regiments. A solution I have thought about but have yet to try would be to disband a battered militia unit so that the troops go back to the SHQ which could then send them as reinforcements to the other units.

You can only build replacements in the SHQ as far as I know. Then in the logistics phase of the turn calculation, the SHQ sends requested reinforcements to the units, provided there are enough logistical points left which is not guaranteed since reinforcements occur at the very end of the logistics calculation, as the manual illustrates. To make sure to have logistical points left for reinforcements you might have to reduce the maximum amount of logistics each of the previous phases can use, and you would do that in the Unit Admin panel of the SHQ.

Hmm, Well I'm not sure why the fighting units have an option to add replacements if it happens automatically.

The only time I think I may have seen it happen automatically was by moving a sepleted unit onto the SHQ. But I don't think that can be the only way as it would mean taking troops out of line continually.

depleted that should have been :)

Just to clarify from a slightly different angle... If I select a unit and then click on one of the troop types in it, e.g. 600 Riflemen, I get a screen allowing me to upgrade, mass upgrade, replace, mass replace, scrap and mass scrap. Clicking upgrade allows me to replace the existing Riflemen I to Riflemen II. But clicking replace does not allow me to replace any lost troops.

What does the replace button actually get used for if it isn't replacements?

Fighting units have a manual replace option so you can prioritise those units getting replacements: if you use Repl. Troops button you can manually do it, and providing you're close enough to your SHQ and have enough LIP left, you'll immediately transfer the replacements in rather than waiting for the replacement phase at the end of the turn resolution.

I might do a video on this, since upgrading, replacement, mass replace and replacing individual models in a formation is all quite confusing.

KingHalford -> RE: Struggling with replacements (6/7/2020 3:40:44 AM)

Oh! I just want to add, that I've found that if your SHQ is struggling to get replacements out to OHQs further in the field, but you do have leftover LIP in your turn, using the direct Repl. Troops button often works.

BlueTemplar -> RE: Struggling with replacements (1/26/2021 2:07:12 PM)

The manual Replacement order accessible from Troop Info Popup has NOTHING to do with automatic logistic Replacement (and IMHO should be called differently, maybe "Swap" ?).

You can NOT manually Replace infantries, only Upgrade them. And vice-versa, you can NOT Upgrade vehicles, only manually Replace them. (Both still require logistic points... note that manual replace needs double, as you need to send the current vehicle back to SHQ.)

(Also Upgrade infantries uses the same term as Upgrade Formation, which isn't optimal for understanding either... maybe "Transform" would be better ?)
