rbsj -> [Fixed] Since last Build 1146.2 Group View is very slow (6/9/2020 1:59:17 PM)

Dear Community,

I'm using CMO in Steam, but I have downloaded the new update manually.

Since the build 1146.2 when I'm playing a scenario, when I click in a big group, usually an airfield with lots of units 80+ the game almost freezes and sometimes it stops totally and in my screen I got a red x in all screen with a white background.

The same scenario if I don't click in the group runs smooth. Another thing is that when I press CTRL+ALT+DEL and go to the task manager I don't see my cpu being used a lot by the game.

My PC is an I7-7700K 4.2Ghz-4.5Ghz, 32GB Ram, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1017 and a ssd disk. Their specs are good to play CMO.

My Best Regards,

I don't think a GTX 1017 can run it. I am assuming you mean a 1070.

btw, as is always asked, can you supply a save where you are seeing the issue? As the devs state in the tech section, where this should probably be, having a save posted helps get to the root issue. There are just too many variables and options that impact performance.

I just tested on a large scenario using an i9 w/a 2080 and a surface book with an i7 w/ a 1050 and can't see any issue.

The problem is new after the last update. Before that I have no problems playing large scenarios. The problem only appears when selecting a group with a huge number of units attached. For instance, when I click in the "Group Airbase" than the game freezes. If I dont click in any Group with a big number of units the game proceeds smoothly.

Best Regards,

Does it only happen with this scenario?

Ran your scenario for a few minutes and had no issues selecting large airbases and getting them to display.

So played around a little. On my i9 laptop, If I set the time acceleration to maximum, there is a 1, maybe 2 second delay when I click on a large airfield and when the list comes up for me to select a specific unit. I tried on a smaller scenario of 900 units and there was no delay.

So if I am guessing at what you are seeing:

You have a 4200 unit scenario, running at max acceleration, in unit view, the selection list takes 1-2 seconds to come up. Is that correct? Not sure what other options you have running, like Tacview, autosave, etc.

Otherwise, in group view, I see no issues. Runs normally.

This issue should be fixed in the next update.

For those of you experiencing it, please confirm if the performance hit only happens when you have the 'Map Settings' 'Datalinks' display option set to 'Selected unit' AND the 'Show Ghosted Group Members' option on. Thanks.

Still an issue in 1147.14. Select a large fleet and the entire game crawls to a halt. Datalinks set to Selected Unit and Show Ghosted Group Members is enabled.

Running on an i7 6700K, GTX 1070, and 32GB of RAM, so shouldn't be a hardware issue.

Please note the date of Steve's 'it's fixed for the next update'... it's after 1147.14 was already released to us so it should only be fixed in a future beta or update > 1147.14.

Battelman2 -> RE: [Logged] Since last Build 1146.2 Group View is very slow (11/5/2020 6:59:43 AM)

Yeah I made the same mistake here, thinking Steve meant 1147.14 because I hadn't noticed it was already available as a beta. I'll watch for it in the next update.

Sorry about that. I'll try to be more specific about which build the fix will be in. :)
