I was in a discussion about supply sources.

I was considering changing some of the entries of resources. Adding more resources to the tile sheet.

Basically the change would be that each country has say 5 locations that are main supply sources. The rest are not.

In Russia I would say Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad, Urals, and Baku would be safe locations.
In this way places like Kiev could be surrounded and cut out.

Want some input. Might make a 2nd 1939 scenario for testing this.

I think it is a very good idea.

Only other idea I have had on the issue is something similar to WiF - A supply source is only a supply source if it is able to trace supply to a different supply source.

Guessing your concept would be a much simpler implementation.

I think it is a good idea, and would give an incentive to manoeuvre tactics instead of attrition

Second that.

The chain supply sources adds a lot of computing time. I have to check the whole map range for every single city. That would really slow down the in between turns to a point players won't accept. Pathfinding takes a lot of CPU time. Each additional radius adds exponentially. So this solution is simple and basically accomplishes the same thing without CPU overhead using the current supply system.

BTW in case anyone questions Leningrad. It should be hard to take and there is no mechanism for ice supplies over the lake. I think a player needs to push the line back then blast the city to take it.

Understand that this is a simpler approach, and I think it is a good one. Key cities, such as Leningrad were historically hard to take.

+1 for Leningrad
