gocromwell -> Automatic advance following winning combat? (6/13/2020 1:36:50 PM)

There seems to be an automatic advance after destroying another un[&:]it, (although not every time). Is there any way to prevent this automatic advance happening?

Hi Gocromwell,

The way the game works is that if there are any remaining action points after combat, and if the zone of control is eliminated, then a unit might still be able to move forward after a unit is destroyed. This is simply part of the dynamic movement mechanism in the game, and if I've understood your concerns correctly here, unfortunately there is no current way to disable that.

Hubert

Hi Hubert
Thanks for answering it just catches me unawares sometimes when i might want to advance an adjacent unit rather than the one that has already used up it's attack potential.
At least I know now - something else for the general (me) to think about. [:)]

Glad to help and if I'm now understanding correctly, the unit won't automatically advance into the vacant spot, you still need to click on the hex to move it there. I had assumed you might have been seeing the AI doing this and thinking it was an automatic advance on its part.

Perhaps an accidental double click on your end after targeting the unit for combat?

I have also noticed the habit of an automatic advance, and it does not seem to be a double click, I have been careful not to, the 1st German infantry attack in Poland seems to do it often.

Thanks for the report again and just so I understand correctly here, you attack a unit, the unit is destroyed, and your unit automatically moves into that hex of the recently destroyed unit?

Think of it as you being the strategic commander and not always having direct control over the tactical actions of your subordinates. They won a battle, got excited, and pursued!

Judgementday -> RE: Automatic advance following winning combat? (8/3/2020 1:13:48 PM)

Yes that is correct. Maybe you should disable the double click interpretation on Attack, that should resolve the problem. Make an advance after combat a separate decision.

Hmmm... not sure what I can do here as it does require you to click on the hex 2 times, once for the attack and then a second time to advance the unit forward, so technically it is behaving as expected.

Maybe if I can flush any registered clicks while combat is happening, just not sure if it is easily doable.

Toby42 -> RE: Automatic advance following winning combat? (8/4/2020 12:26:08 PM)

I tried this and I couldn't get it to advance automatically? I did multiple combats in the Poland scenario? I just thought that I would try to duplicate. I've never noticed this happening. Could it be machine specific?
