adantas -> looking for maps or terrain info! (7/29/2003 4:00:56 AM)

Hello Folks!,

Well, I just finished my Brazilian OOB for H2Hfr and I intend to start to design a serie of scenarios covering the battles of 1st Brazilian Infantry Div at Tuscany region in sept 1944 till the battles at Po River valley in 45.
Problem here is that I don't have good sources about those regions and find good maps over the net is really difficult :(
So I'd like to know if someone out there has some map or even terrain info from my first place of interest:

The place : Camaiore region at Tuscany near the Serchio river valley.

Any Help will be appreciated! :D

Hi Adantas.
It happens to me to live 40-50 kilometers from Camaiore :)
My city is called Livorno, btw, if you have found it during your researches.
I don't know, tough, that region very vell, at least not so well as the very detailed maps for spwaw would require....

Do you have more details, names, which info, maps at which level of scale would you need?

If you prefer, you can contact me here: resisti64@hotmail.com

Good God!!, that why this community is so increadible :D
thanks a lot for you reply Resisti!!
Yeap I heard about it, we have a big Italian community here in Brazil.
Well, any info would be nice for sure, I have an ideia that Camaiore must be located near a mountain or on it, the Brazilians took Camaiore in september 44 and other places that were conquered at the vicinities were Massarosa, Monte Prano, Fornaci, Gallicano and Barga , seem Mussolini used to stay at this last one during his vacations...
I'm not sure yet about the scale since the decision will be made over the info I get but at least, if possible, some topographical info from the area around Camaiore as key hills, forests?, acess routes, well, anything that can help a poor South American map designer :D
It's very difficult to find good maps or even topographical maps from places at Europe or Asia at South America :(

Well, tks again!

Hi Adantas.
Ok, I’ll look into it.
Problem is that it’s not so easy to find low level details maps, here, too.
Not as detailed as Spwaw maps’ drawing would need, at least, as I said.
I’ll be on vacation(out of town) starting from Monday and for three weeks, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to provide you something before.

Yes, Camaiore is on a hill. Then there is Lido di Camaiore (where Lido=beach), which is on the sea.

All the towns/villages you mentioned are on the Appennins, and are located just before the Gothic Line, so it makes sense they've been conquered, in the allied path of advance towards the last German defensive line, before the Alps.

Please, provide me your mail address, in case I’ve any attachments to send you.

Meantime, a couple of online maps(not very detailed..):

Hey Resisti,

Both Mapas are great :D
And I'm also glad cause both shows the Brasilians, at the first one we are represented as "BEF = Brasilian Expeditionary Force"
and the second one shows the 1st Br Div attached to the IVth Corps :D
Seem finally I'll be able to bring the Brazilian GIs into SPWAW ...

Thanks a lot Mate :)
