VoodooDog -> Warrior Knight with GR Grade Infantry feels op? can someone explain? (6/16/2020 4:09:40 PM)

i dont even know why i have them and what a warrior knight is.
the tooltip says that the unit he is atteched to kills with every shot so my 100 infantry ppl killed 2300 enemies without losing anything?

iam confused, where did i get this warrior knight? or, how does one get such a knight in general?

ps: sry for the bad image quality, this forum forces you to scale it down to under 200kb and iam not allowed to post any links (had uploaded it on abload before...)

Mutant are very weak 15/15 in soft attack while the gr has 200 in attack so obviously he has half a howitzer firepower think zombies vs space marines.

As for the warrior knight, it must be one of those unit feats one can unlock at the same time they unlock a regime feat. Or maybe you rather got it from a Decision? I can't find a warrior knight in the regime feats section of the manual.

The ones from regime feats have a chance to spawn as a sub-unit in any of your units. It's detailed in the manual at 5.10.6. It's a quick read.

At any rate you have now a powerful, albeit maybe fragile, combo in your arsenal.

It's the autocracy unit decision feat

BlackRain -> RE: Warrior Knight with GR Grade Infantry feels op? can someone explain? (6/16/2020 4:36:48 PM)

yeah it is part of the autocracy decisions. Not sure what knights do though, but I always pick them lol

well, these 2 units basically one shot every mutant army no matter how many troops are in there lol

GR units are the best units possible, until you max out your tech, I believe

Although they should be escorted by other units to tank hits for them, because it will take at least 200 turns before you can build anything similar to them

so this is kinda op luck for me?
because if something like this happens in a mp game it would be very imbalanced, wouldnt it?
what could anyone do against it?

Jdane -> RE: Warrior Knight with GR Grade Infantry feels op? can someone explain? (6/16/2020 5:53:12 PM)

As others said, hope your opponent gets too confident and misuses this unit, such as leaving it unguarded in which case it could be overwhelmed by sheer numbers, or better protected units than this mutant fodder.

Yes it would be imbalanced, but the RNG has such strength and impact in Shadow Empire, that in my opinion I can't really be as balanced as a game whose core focus is on competitive multiplayer can be.

Here the fun comes more from the surprises the game throws at you, but that's just me.

Well regular troops are vastly more effective than mutants. For goodness sake, even foot militia outfight mutants!

Okay seriously, a skilled opponent would either fight on fronts where you do not have that unit, force you into an encirclement and kill that unit or force you into a grinding series of disadvantageous assaults that wear down the rest of your forces and maximise the chance of killing that unit. A GR unit with a strong feat is good but they're not unkillable and they are rare as hen's teeth.

That's three options off the top of my head. Rushing early armour would work. Proper armour not buggies. Artillery. Stone cold killers aren't much good if they are being shelled from 50 or 100 km away. Massed artillery to strip their readiness and morale and just wreck em would work.

Tons of options.

You get the Warrior Knight from one of those "Special Soldier" events. I think it was a "75% chance to kill on any hit" feat? (I asume does not apply to counter attacks - not that it needs to here!)

You also need to consider just how the values are distributed for this.
GR Infantry has 200 HP
And with their Laser Rifles 157 Soft 98 Hard on the Attack
Also every time a unit is attacked, it is given a free "counterattack" at -50%.

If that enemy really is just 15/15, that would mean:
They have to roll 15 vs 200 HP. Not a good chance to get any damage. Note that teh Calliber modifier might apply making this even worse.
The counter attack will roll 77 vs 15 the Mutants. A pretty good chance to get a kill.

If these enemies would all just stop attacking, their survival odds would go up astronimically (as they are doing more damage to themself then the enemy).

Try the same thing against Proper Soldiers with Automatic Rifles and Combat armor. You will get a very different result.

yea, got it.
okay so i basically got lucky two times. because iam only on turn 25 and i started at tech level 3. so having these laser guys is super lucky as well, i cant remember how i got them (probably from salvaging?)
okay that feels just super cool and i think in multiplayer this just adds cool layers of complexity to the warfare.

One GR infantry? Try ten GR heavy tanks and two shield generators in the first ten turns of the game [8D][8D].. Now that's OP.
