Malevolence -> Where do I put a Supply Base? (6/21/2020 10:51:06 PM)

Supply Bases provide Truck Action Points, not Truck Points (TP).

The best place to build them is situational.

Truck Action Points are non-cumulative and the the highest producing Asset is used to provide Truck Action Points.

These are basically range points and a City will have its full amount of Truck Points projected within this range. After the range is exceeded the % of Truck Points projected slowly drops to 0 upon reaching hexes at double the range or more.

Ideally you place them at the hex before you have the first reduction in TPs.

Use Preview Points to determine this hex location (see below diagram). I use stop signs to cut off all outside TP and rail points on the Preview view first. By removing TPs from other more distant truck stations, the view is limited to the closest truck station's output of TP's.

Multiple supply bases do not extend. Truck Action Point Extensions are not cumulative and constructing another Supply Base does increase the range any further. I believe they are specifically designed to sit between two truck stations.

You want to keep one supply base at equal distance between two truck stations. Just within the Truck Action point range of each Truck Station.

Ostensibly, a Supply Base III should create a perfectly efficient supply route between two Truck Station I's at 20 hexes distant.

Supply Bases make excellent locations for road junctions.

If you upgrade the truck station, the truck points increase and truck action points increase slightly. The most favorable hex will change.

LordAldrich -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (6/21/2020 11:04:44 PM)

I was under the impression that because Truck AP is additive and does not degrade with distance, you get the exact same outcome if you put the supply base in "hex 1" right next to your city. There's no need to find the optimal tile unless you're trying to make sure it boosts two separate truck stations down a shared road, or some similarly niche application.

EatPancakes -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (6/22/2020 12:43:09 AM)

I agree that 1 space besides cities seem optimal, most of the time.

Malevolence -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (6/22/2020 3:55:09 AM)

You want to keep one supply base at equal distance between two truck stations. Just within the Truck Action point range of the Truck Stations. As I also wrote, this a good place for road junctions.

zgrssd -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (6/22/2020 6:37:03 AM)

While you currently can place it just one hex outside the city - or even in the hex with a trucks station in the wild! - 1 base benefiting 2 or more truck stations is better.

Plus the "1 hex exploit" can be fixed. I actually can think of a way.

ramnblam -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (6/22/2020 6:38:04 AM)

Is there any way to tell if a hex is under the affect of a supply base? And do supply bases give administration strain If they do, they're not worth it.

The first question makes no sense. Truck Lines are under the effect of a supply base, not hexes. And the Supply base in a hex is rather easy to spot...

The seocnd question: Just do not put them outside of 6 hexes, if the do. Or you know, compare it to a Truckstop at the same spot. And realize teh supply base may still be better.

Jdane -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (6/22/2020 12:59:59 PM)

You can see the effect of a supply base in a hex when using the Traffic Signs tool. It breaks down the usage of original Action Points and Truck Action Points to use the OP's terminology, displaying them separately (look into the detailed stats in the right hand view).

Thanks Jdane <3

There is no penalty for 9% administrative strain and below.

Even with uncontrollable private assets, I have never come close to 10% or more.

Did you know you can delegate supply bases to another zone?

Kamelpov -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (6/22/2020 3:44:46 PM)

The best location is under a colonized new city at the same location than the supply truck. (as it wasn't a city hex at the beginning but once you put settler you can't build that anymore.)

Now THAT is definitely a bug. You're obviously not supposed to be able to build them in cities.

But you are able to build a city on top of them [;)]

Malevolence -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (6/30/2020 7:13:58 PM)

Open Beta Patch v1.04-beta1 made changes to the supply base.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Vic
-Changed the way Supply Bases are giving extension. They now only give extension points upto the point normal action points have already been used. This makes them function as actually intended. Will only be in effect with games started with v1.04-beta1

The beta change requires a new start--"Version #41" in your Dashboard Report.

Keep in mind, the patch only works if installed only over the official update v1.04.

Malevolence -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (7/1/2020 4:19:21 PM)

Shamelessly quoted from Destragon:

If someone still didn't understand the change, here is a small example:

This supply base could potentially replenish 50 movement points, but because the logistics path has only spent 20 movement points so far when it reached the supply base, it is only able to replenish 20.

In the old version, it would have given 50 extra movement points, no matter how many movement points the logistics path has already used up.

They used to give extra movement points for the logistics trucks, now they only replenish spent movement points, which means you need to put your supply base farther away from your truck station to make it more effective.

NoodlePickle -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (7/4/2020 3:03:08 AM)

Regarding the image above and things about it that I do not understand or know where to find the info....
1. Where can I find the receive and sent information in game? I cannot figure that out.
2. The line used 20 of 100 AP and then replaced the 20 AP. That makes sense, but what does the ext=10/20 mean exactly, I read it as extending 20AP, but why the 10/20?
3. What is BR? And how will that information confuse me at a later date?

Thank you

Falke -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (7/4/2020 10:34:55 AM)

1. Traffic signs mode - click on hex
2. It means 10 of the 20 extra is used sending it to the next hex

1. Traffic Sign Menu. Click on a Hex
2. How much extension was already applied to that line. To my understanding, tehy are not supposed to stack. So the game needs some way to remember "10 AP of extension were alrady applied"
3. Number of branches. After over 4, there are additional AP penalties.

demiare -> RE: Where do I put a Supply Base? (8/4/2020 11:48:03 AM)

Since 1.04 beta1 Supply Bases had received a small rework:

1) They're providing EXTRA move points, not replenish existing.
2) Their effects do not stack.

Nothing changed in calculation except ideal place for supply base - you can (and IMHO should!) place it inside 6-hex range of city (to avoid administrative strain penalty).

That is what the OP states.

That is not a hard and fast rule. The first 9% of administrative strain has no impact.

Depending on circumstances, and a player's future plans, an insightful and informed analysis should be made before placing the supply base.

A more significant consideration is the location of the next truck station along the route.

There is zero difference for having a supply base on 1st hex or 10th hex of route - as long as it will provide it's bonus BEFORE diminishing for lack of action points. Obviously it's a bad idea to place base on 11+ hex as you already had lost some logistic points.

So why you're considering to accept administrative penalty if there is no gain?
